Part 17 --- BUT DELIVER US --- Salvation

Here we must know that we have protection. You cannot pray effectively unless you know you are protected from evil. Because we are protected, no curse can touch us. No evil shall befall thee. In another portion of scripture we read, “And I will build My Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” In other words, we can absolutely defeat the purpose of the enemy because we have protection. Psalm 119:117 declares, “Sustain me, that I might be saved, and always look to Your Laws” 1 Corinthians 10:13 says, “No trial has overtaken you except such as is common to man and Elohim is trustworthy, Who shall not allow you to be tried beyond what you are able, but with trial shall also make the way of escape, enabling you to bear it.” In 2 Peter 2:9, “then YHVH knows how to rescue the reverent ones from trial and to keep the unrighteous unto the day of judgement, to be punished.” Psalm 94:18 declares, “When I said, My foot has slipped; Your loving Commandment, O YHVH, supported me" We are protected if we just believe. Lead us not into trial, I believe also includes salvation. He delivers you from evil, He protects you from evil and the very deliverance and protection from evil brings you into His salvation. And lead us not into temptation and deliver us from evil brings you and me into YHVH’s salvation. We begin to experience the fullness of His salvation, meaning the blessings of the Gospel become ours. When there is protection, He becomes your salvation. Absolute knowledge that our Adonai is your salvation is a part of prayer. There is no fear whatsoever; there is assurance of salvation.

Part 16 --- NOT INTO TRIAL --- Deliverance

This suggests that YHVH would bring deliverance to your life as He prevents you or keeps you from repeating the same sin. Earlier we saw that we must ask for forgiveness daily. Now we are asking for not only guidance but deliverance. Deliverance is a part of prayer. “Adonai, not only guide us but deliver us from this sin that keeps coming back on us. Deliverance must be a part of prayer, otherwise prayer cannot be affective. James 1:13 says, " Let no-one say when he is enticed, ' I am enticed by Elohim' for Elohim is not enticed by evil matters and He entices no one." YHVH does not tempt us: He tests us. So when you pray lead us not into temptation, realize that Elohim does not tempt you. He allowed you to be tested.

Shalom, To all beard keeping Torah believers, what is your understanding of keeping those beards, is it fashion, a tradition or three is a deeper meaning?
Please share your thoughts before I share with you what the Hebrew letters say!

I can't say that it was any of the options. For me it started with my investigation into "not rounding the corners of your beard" as I had a goaty since leaving school. Over time my understanding of a full beard changed, but I then just stuck with a beard as I didn't want to have a goaty any longer.

It might just be in my head, but a full beard does make me feel a bit set apart; like a head covering feels for my wife,

I will admit I struggle with this also. Of all the commentaries I have read (and they didn't help much) for me it was David's response to the spies who had half of their beard shaved. David told them to remain in Jericho until their beard grew out. Why not simply advise them to shave the rest? Was it because the people would see them as failures or was there more to his reasoning? To err on the side of caution I keep mine, but that is something each of us must work out with fear and trembling.

Joseph accused his brothers of spying. It was a ruse but it was also prophetic. Consider these parallels between the brothers and the twelve spies after the Exodus:

-Joseph's exile in Egypt and Israel's exile in the Wilderness both began when they returned with a bad report. Joseph tattled on his brothers and the spies gave a fearful story of the Promised Land.
-Joseph's brothers claimed to be upright men who were entering Egypt. Israel's spies were leading men of Israel who were leaving Egypt.
-Joseph's brothers feared him and begged to be allowed to leave. The spies feared the Canaanites and the people begged to be allowed to go back to Egypt.

There are other parallels between Jacob's sons entering Egypt and the Israelites entering Canaan centuries later, but these are more than enough to establish the pattern.
