SWEET & SOUR CHICKEN

Yields: 4 portions

Ingredients
For the sauce
○ ½ cup brown sugar
○ ½ cup white vinegar
○ 2 tablespoons soy sauce
○ ¼ cup tomato ketchup
○ 1 tablespoon cornstarch
○ 2 tablespoon cold water

For the dish
○ 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into pieces
○ 2 tablespoons olive oil
○ 1 green bell pepper roughly chopped
○ 1 yellow bell pepper roughly chopped
○ 1 large onion chopped into large chunks
○ 1 carrot cut into thin, angled slices
○ ½ pineapple, cut into chunks or 1 small can of pineapple chunks

For serving
Rice or egg noodles

Method
For the sauce
1. Add all ingredients to pot and whisk until cornstarch have dissolved completely.
2. Bring to a boil while stirring constantly.
3. Once thickened, turn heat down and simmer for 10 minutes.

For the dish
4. Season the chicken with salt and pepper and fry until just cooked. Do not brown.
5. Add all the vegetables and stir fry for 5 minutes. All veg should remain crunchy.
6. Once cooked, stir all cooked ingredients into pre-cooked sauce.

For serving
7. Cook the noodles according to the package instructions.
8. Drain and stir into cooked meat, vegetables and sauce
9. Serve

Praying Psalm 5

O Adonai, hear us as we pray; pay attention to our groaning. Listen to our cries for help, our King, our God and our Father, for we pray to no one but You. Listen to our voice in the morning, Adonai. Each morning we bring our requests to You and wait expectantly. Father, You take no pleasure in wickedness; You cannot tolerate the sins of the wicked. Therefore, the proud may not stand in Your presence, for You hate all who do evil. You will destroy those who tell lies. Lord You detests murderers and deceivers. Because of Your unfailing love, we can enter Your House; we will worship at Your Temple with deepest awe. Lead us in the right path O Adonai or our enemies will conquer us. Make Your way plain for us to follow. Our enemies cannot speak a truthful word. Their deepest desire is to destroy others. Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with flattery. Father, You declare them guilty. Let them be caught in their own traps. Drive them away because of their many sins, for they have rebelled against You. But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread Your protection over them, that all who love Your Name may be filled with joy. For You bless the godly, Adonai; You surround us with Your shield of love and we love You, amein.

It's been a rough road of discovery for me personally over the last year or so. Coming to repentance from my lukewarm evangelical faith has been both amazing and challenging in equal measures. As part of getting back on the narrow path I've had to evaluate every one of my long held beliefs. The latest has been the trinity. My oldest just recently became a teen. It got me thinking: we call God our Father, as our Father He tells us to do things, yet we have a large group of people that rebel against those things. They say they are not for us or they are done away with or that was a different covenant or many other reasons. Most use Paul to defend those claims. Much like a stereotypical teenager not wanting to do what their parents tell them to do.
