I have loved you, saith YHWH. Yet ye say: 'Wherein hast Thou loved us?' Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith YHWH; yet I loved Jacob; But Esau I hated, and made his mountains a desolation, and gave his heritage to the jackals of the wilderness.
Malachi 1:2-3

God loved Esau but hated his pride and worldliness. God turns away from the proud, but favors the humble. This is what it means when God said, "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated."

THE LORD is apple and the olive and the fig all can be eaten. What is made from the fir tree. Some might think of strong drink to get one drunk. I can see why the LORD hated him, he was taking people from worshipping the LORD to depending on himself.
