The Hebrew doesn’t exactly say that the midwives “let the boys live”. It says they “enlivened the boys”. They were active in their opposition to Pharaoh. They didn’t merely “let” them live, but participated in giving them life.
The Hebrew midwives conspired just like Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, and Leah, but in a good way. It's not always wrong to lie or disobey the government, and there is no commandment against deceiving your enemies to gain advantage or to save lives.
Fear God rather than man and don't elevate peace or conformity above his instructions. These midwives lied to the government and God praised them for it.

A man's spirit will endure sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear?
Proverbs 18:14 ESV
There are different kinds of sickness: physical, mental, and spiritual.
A healthy spirit helps to ward off all kinds of sickness and gets you through bad times. A sick spirit makes every little injury feel mortal. If you are spiritually strong, you can bear up against anything, but if you are spiritually weak, you don't even need an enemy to bring you down.
And sickness and injury are light afflictions compared to betrayal and cruelty.
