I did light research years ago on america's Independence Day. I never found pagan origins, except that the chinese invented fireworks and still make most of them. So, Happy 4th everyone!

The only other secular holiday I observe is Thanksgiving. The only thing I have more recently found with it is that we keep leftovers for a week and it's not a spontaneous feast. Scripture does allot for thanksgiving feasts though, so if we follow the guidelines by not eating turkey for more than one day, it seems permissible.

Anyone else do research on these?

Yes, we are the same. The only two will still observe. In researching, there are possibilties of Thanksgiving being related to Sukkot, much like Hanukkah. It’s not definitive, but still a possibility.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest….For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. -Yeshua (Mt 11:28-30)

The Aaronic priesthood can't be earned, bought, or bestowed by men. Only the Kohanim may be priests and only the sons of Levi may serve in their support role. The punishment for pretending to be a genetic son of Aaron in the Temple is death.

However, all of Levi, not just the priests, was responsible for the functioning and holiness of the Tabernacle. The Aaronic priests (the Kohanim) aren't allowed to cut the rest of Levi out of the Tabernacle service. The Kohanim were to oversee the Levites, but were also accountable to them. This is a good pattern for congregational leadership. Bishop oversees elders, but is accountable to them.

God's anointing isn't subject to approval by anyone. No mortal can deny or diminish it.

Shalom aleichem! Silver Trumpet Ministries will once again be gathering this coming Shabbat (saturday) at the residence of Hein & Gerda Zentgraf in Henley on Klip from 09:30. This week we will study parashat Qorach (Korah), from the fourth book, Numbers. Please note that the study is mainly in Afrikaans, but we are also fully conversant in the English vernacular. Prepare from Torah: B’midbar (Numbers) 16:1 to 18:32, Sh’mu’el Alef (1 Samuel) 11:14 to 12:22 and Y’hudah (Jude) 1:1-25; you are welcome to bring your questions to the table for discussion.

For people outside the Vaal Triangle, we offer a remote gathering via the Jitsi platform, a free application that works on computers and smartphones. We send the link out at 09:30 via our Telegram group, YAH's Festivals, or on request. Coffee and tea will be supplied and every family is welcome to contribute something light to eat. We request, however, that special diets, such as gluten intolerance and diabetes are kept in mind. Please contact us on Telegram 0837745609 or Whatsapp 0846743400. To the esteem of YAH!
