Even if my Merciful judge decides that I am not worthy of Eternal life, it is Him, YHWH, that I am serving, and it is his Torah that I Will always strive to guard, because He is my Father, and I love Him. Because all that I have and all that I can afford to do, even in this hard life, is because of Him, no one else. He deserves to be loved and worshipped, and deserves my best.

YESHUA’ BODY IS BURIED
From Matthew 27:57-66; Mark 15:42-47; Luke 23:50-56; John 19:31-42
The chief priests and rulers wanted Yeshua and the others removed from the crosses before sundown, before the beginning of the Shabbat, considered holier than usual because it was the Passover. They asked Pilate to have the legs of the men broken to bring death earlier so their bodies could be removed. The soldiers broke the legs of the two who had been crucified with Yeshua, but when they realized that Yeshua was already dead, they did not break His legs. Instead, one soldier pierced His side with a spear, so that blood and water came out. John saw this and reported it in his Gospel so that all might believe. These things fulfilled the Scripture which said, [Not a bone of His body shall be broken,] and another Scripture which said, [They shall look at Him Whom they have pierced.] Evening was approaching on the Preparation Day, the day before the Shabbat. A prominent member of the council, named Joseph of Arimathea, had followed Yeshua secretly because he feared the religious leaders. Now he gathered the courage to ask Pilate for Yeshua’ body. After Pilate questioned the centurion, and found that Yeshua was already dead, he gave the body to Joseph. Nicodemus, who had come to Yeshua by night, joined Joseph, bringing about a hundred pounds of myrrh and aloes to embalm Yeshua’ body. The two took Yeshua from the cross, and wound Him in a linen cloth with the myrrh and aloes, according to the customs of the Jewish people at the time. Near the place of crucifixion, Joseph had a new tomb where no one had yet been buried, located in a garden. Since the Shabbat was about to begin, they laid Yeshua’ body in this tomb which had been cut into the rock, and rolled a great stone across the doorway. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, the mother of Joses, were there, watching where Yeshua was laid. Then they returned home and prepared spices and perfumes before resting on the Shabbat, according to the Commandment. The next day, the chief priests and Pharisees met with Pilate. [Sir, while that deceiver was still alive, He claimed that He would rise again after the third day. Order the tomb to be sealed until the third day so that His followers do not steal His body and tell the people that He has risen from the dead, and the last deceiving act become worse than the first.] [The guard is yours,] Pilate told them. [Make the tomb as secure as you can.] They set guards around the tomb, and sealed the stone across the doorway so no one could enter.
COMMENTARY
YESHUA’ LAST DAY
Jews marked the days from sunset to sunset, so the last day of Yeshua’ life began just after sunset on a Wednesday evening. The Passover was just beginning when He and His disciples gathered around the table in the Upper Room. Although Yeshua had tried to prepare His followers for His death, they did not know that He would be lying in His grave before sunset the next evening. While they were still in Galilee Yeshua had warned them that He must die. Again, that night He told the twelve that one of them would betray Him. Yet despite Yeshua’ warnings, the disciples were not prepared for the events that would take place within the next twenty-four hours. While they swore that they would never desert Him, Yeshua knew that before morning His disciples would have scattered in fear, leaving Him to die alone. Knowing that His death was fast approaching, Yeshua went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. He asked His heavenly Father to give Him the strength to bear the sufferings ahead. Only after He had given His life for the sins of the world could He rise in victory over death.
WEDNESDAY EVENING -- 6 to 9 P.M.
After sundown, Yeshua and His disciples meet in an upper room in Jerusalem to eat the Passover meal. While they are still gathered around the table, Judas leaves to make the final arrangements for Yeshua’ betrayal.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT -- 9 P.M. TO MIDNIGHT
Yeshua leads His disciples to the Garden of Gethsemane on the Mount of Olives. While He prays late into the night, the disciples fall asleep.
EARLY THURSDAY MORNING -- MIDNIGHT TO 3 A.M.
Judas arrives at Gethsemane with a band of armed guards. He greets Yeshua with a kiss, signalling to the soldiers which man they should arrest. While the guards tie Yeshua, the disciples run away in fear. Yeshua is delivered first to Annas, then to Caiaphas, the high priest.
EARLY THURSDAY MORNING -- 3 to 6 A.M.
The members of the Sanhedrin begin arriving at Caiaphas’ house for the trial. The high priest questions Yeshua and pronounces Him guilty of blasphemy because He declared Himself to be the Son of YHVH. Outside in the courtyard, Peter denies that he knows Yeshua.
THURSDAY MORNING -- 6 to 9 A.M.
The Jews take Yeshua to Pilate and demand His death. Pilate questions Yeshua but does not find Him guilty of any crime. He sends the prisoner to Herod, but Herod only mocks Yeshua before returning Him to Pilate. Finally, the crowd forces Pilate to condemn Yeshua to death. The Roman soldiers scourge Him and lead Him out to be crucified.
THURSDAY MORNING -- 9 A.M. TO NOON
Yeshua is nailed to the cross between two thieves. Over His head a sign reads, [This is Yeshua, the King of the Jews.] The soldiers gamble for Yeshua’ clothing while they wait for Him to die.
THURSDAY AFTERNOON -- NOON TO 3 P.M.
When Yeshua dies the ground is shaken by an earthquake and darkness settles over the earth. In the temple, the veil that covers the door of the Holy of Holies is torn in two.
THURSDAY AFTERNOON -- 3 to 6 P.M.
Joseph of Arimathea receives permission to take Yeshua’ body down from the cross. Nicodemus helps Joseph prepare Yeshua for burial. They wrap His body in yards of linen layered with spices and lay Him in the tomb.
PASSOVER SHABBAT
Passover is a high Jewish holiday and classified as a shabbat. Yeshua’s first night in the grave was on the Thursday just before Shabbat started, thus Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights make the 3 nights Thursday midday, Friday and Saturday were the three days as said He spent 3 days and 3 nights in the grave with the resurrection early Sunday morning.
"Pinchas" in Numbers 25:11 is spelled in some manuscripts with a diminutive letter yod, which was originally a pictogram of a hand. I think it is to say that Pinchas didn't act on his own, but God acted through him. Pinchas' hand was diminished, while God's is magnified.
"Shalom" in Numbers 25:12 is spelled with a broken letter vav, which was originally a pictogram of a nail or spike. Perhaps this is to say that, through the violence of a spike, righteousness is restored, enabling a peace in which no such spike will be needed. #yeshua
Sometimes peace requires war. Whoever said violence never solves anything hasn't been paying attention.
By publicly and violently enforcing God's standards of sexual purity, by preventing the corruption of Israel's children, #pinchas brought God's blessing of peace on his own children for generations. For his violence, #pinchas was rewarded with a covenant of peace.
