There are some interesting parallels in the story of the widow's oil (2 Kings 4:1-7) with the stories of Sodom and the Exodus.
>The widow and her children are destitute and oppressed.
>They are shut up in the house overnight.
>They obtained wealth from their neighbors.
>God rescued them from oppression.

She came and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on the rest.”
2 Kings 4:7 (Read v1-7 for context.)
God's Providence won't always take the form of tangible resources, but he is faithful to the faithful children of His faithful servants.
And Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me; what have you in the house?” And she said, “Your servant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.”
2 Kings 4:2
The widow had nothing but a single jar of oil, a metaphor of God's Spirit indwelling the clay vessels of our mortal selves. What more do you need if you have God's Spirit in your house? Trust him for the rest. #faith
God said, "Thou shall not kill", but he told Joshua to kill every living person in Canaan. What's up with that?
