And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.
Numbers 22:2
#balak could be translated as "waster". He saw what Israel had done to the Amorites, fully comprehended what it meant, and wasted for fear. No earthly force could resist God's will for Israel. And once Balak was afraid, the whole nation followed. A nation and its leaders have a positive feedback loop. Their attitudes reinforce each other.
His mother's name was Zippor, essentially the same as Moses' wife, Zipporah. They both mean "bird". I think this is an indication that Balak and Balaam together represented a counterfeit Moses, like the Beast and the False Prophet of revelation are together a counterfeit of #yeshua (Jesus).
