Seeking input. I work full time Monday thru Friday. My favorite things in life are cooking and keeping my home nice. I look forward to making meals and housework so I dont view it as *work,* but struggle with whether Yah does. I dont know what I would do with myself on Shabbat if I didn't have cooking and cleaning to enjoy! I have heard other TO people say if a chore makes you grumpy, its considered work and you shouldn't do it on Shabbat, but what about chores that we do enjoy?

If i have a full time job framing houses, and i enjoy my work, is ok for me to frame houses on Shabbat?

In our home, Shabbat is a day if rest. Meal prepared on Friday so that I don't have to worry about it. Dishes go in dishwasher and run in the evening. It took me awhile to adjust to this, but now I look forward to delighting in His Shabbat. Hope this helps. And Shabbat Shalom to you and your family.?

There seems to be a lot of confusion about what is and isn’t work on Shabbat. If a child spills milk is it ok to wipe it up or is it work? If an elderly parent soils themself is it work to clean them? Many assume that what others consider work should be their definition as well. I’ll admit that sometimes it is hard for me to do nothing so I find fun things to do. Shabbat is a day of rest and we shouldn’t need to work at that. No 2 families will be able to guard Shabbat the same, if what we do is beneficial for others it is acceptable. If what we do only benefits ourselves it is not acceptable. That is a generic litmus test, but it can be a good rule of thumb.
