Thought for Today: Friday May 16

It is so unfortunate when believers cannot get along or even refuse to have anything to do with one another. Not only does this harm our witness to an unbelieving world, but it turns us away from YHVH’s priorities for us. Shortly before Yeshua’s death on the cross, He prayed for unity among those who would come to believe in Him. When the world sees believers fighting, they wonder if the Gospel is really true. Only satan wins when sincere believers reject one another!

Review Website

27 w

I've been considering doing a review website. I've hesitated with that because I know the potential of what people might do. We see reviews done in scripture by Paul who wrote about diotrephes who wanted to be first among the assembly which is taking preeminence which only belongs to Messiah. So there are times when warning the body is in order. I have to weigh in that and other factors to set standards. I don't know when or if I will actually get it implemented. Right now I'm transferring a bunch of domains to another server. I had so many domains on one server I didn't even have room to do backups. But I'm getting that done and the process will take some time so I'm just working on it a little bit every day.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds like you want to review websites according to their teaching.

If so, that would be quite a feat in my view as it would mean that the person doing the evaluation would not be allowed to project their own views/beliefs on the website being evaluated and at the same time be required to project their own views/beliefs on the website being evaluated. 😫

Being Switzerland while still taking a side. 😖

What criteria do you use to evaluate a site? It can't be doctrines as it differs radically in the community. Unless if you want a very niche review site that ringfences certain sites or if you want to be totally neutral and evaluate a site on a whole set of criteria like a checkbox exercise. But what if you misunderstand one of the doctrines and set the "checkbox" wrong?

Let's take the touchy subject of polygamy as an example. Do you "allow" such sites or not?

This is one of the reasons why I haven't formally launched the TTN Search site as I need to set a baseline of which sites to include; and it has to be an easy exercise as there are thousands of potential sites to include. As example, is simply mentioning Yeshua as Messiah or `Hebrew Roots` adequate to include a site???

He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.
Proverbs 29:3 ESV

Even the worst fathers, who encourage their sons to engage in all kinds of sin, are secretly proud of a son who prefers wisdom and godly behavior.

Crusader Swords And Israel Citizenship - The Kingdom Network

Listening to a presenter who lives in Israel, the statement was made that the people who would be populating Israel in the region of Lebanon would not be, for instance, German Crusaders. The Crusades, the presenter opined, were a long time ago. On t

Tzitzitziot!

27 w

I wear tzizitziot with a blue cord when I leave the house because I understand the command to wear them is blanket for men, women and children. However, I cant find depictions of hebrew women or children wearing them in Egyptian art. The one depiction that includes women and children does not have the men wearing them, either. The art with men wearing them interestingly has them wearing 3 tassles per corner (one for each tribe?) Can someone better versed in ancient hebrew please clarify for me if it is gender and age specific, or if it is a blanket command? Thank you!

It's debated. I'd say if you feel called to wear them, you should.

What I found in my investigation 9 years back was that people used ancient carvings which they said were depicting Hebrews and they wore tassels right around all their fringes and not only on the corners. Think along the lines of a summer dress with fringes on the seam...

Mark and I were just talking of gender specific laws in another post- https://social.ttn.place/post/55160&ref=16385

I think I see a pattern when it comes to the laws, but still need feedback whether my observation is correct:

1- If a law prohibits something between two people and the sin is on both of them then the law is only given from the male perspective.

2 - When a law is specific to a person and the burden of breaking it is on themselves then no gender is mentioned in the law.

The tzitzit law could be a tiebreaker in my observation as the law was given to men, but is it a sin not to wear it as that would then mean that my observation still holds water.

On the other hand, so it circumcision. Some want to make female circumcision a requirement, but this law was given to the men.

If we look at the commandment itself:

“Speak to the children of Israel and tell them to make for themselves fringes (tzitzit) on the corners of their garments throughout their generations... and you shall look upon it and remember all the commandments of the LORD…” — Numbers 15:38–39

Key Hebrew phrasing:
“דַּבֵּר אֶל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל” – "Speak to the sons of Israel"

This wording (בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל) has traditionally been interpreted to refer specifically to men.

So in my view, it comes down to personal interpretation of the verse.

Torah Tent Directory

Even though anyone can add links to the directory, I have been visiting websites and YouTube channels to guard against ministries that are unreasonable toward people or do not teach the truth from being added. I also know of some assemblies I have attended personally that I won't allow to be added. We need to support the sheep, not the goats. I am aware of fellowships where the pastor forced his way in to become pastor and is a goat and deceiver. Scripture warns against these kind of people. We need to be aware of who they are.
