About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God come in and say to him, "Cornelius." And he stared at him in terror and said, "What is it, Lord?" And he said to him, "Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God."
Acts 10:3-4 ESV
The prayers and alms of a righteous man are very similar to peace offerings. God hears the prayers of a right-hearted man even if he does not know about Yeshua.
There are a bunch of parallels between this Torah portion ( #toldot, Gen 25:19-28:9) and the story of Samson.
-Isaac and Manoah pray for a son.
-An angel of YHWH visited mothers of Jacob and Samson to announce their conceptions.
-Isaac 40 yrs old at marriage. Philistines oppressed Israel 40 yrs.
-Philistines took Isaac's and Samson's wives.
-Philistines destroyed Isaac's well. Samson destroyed Philistine crops.
-Isaac de-escalates conflict. Samson escalates it.
-Esau and Samson are hairy.
-Isaac and Samson are blinded.
-Isaac means laughter. The Philistines laughed at Samson.
-Isaac and Samson both reach out to touch something.
Here's a short list of Apostolic passages for reading and studying with #torah portion #toldot ("Generations" #genesis 25:19-28:9), plus links to related video and commentary: https://www.americantorah.com/....2022/02/08/parsha-to
Proverbs 15:21, “A man without wisdom enjoys being foolish. But a man with understanding does what is right.” Keep this in mind when you get together with family and friends and that “one person” is trying to stir up trouble. You may have a teachable moment and it may be for that “one person” or it may be for the rest of the group. There is no one size fits all response for this, each situation will be different. If you are given the words to speak say what needs to be said in love and kindness.
Thought for Today: Sunday November 24
David said he “waited patiently” for Elohiym to act – and sometimes that is hard for us to do. But in time YHVH did answer, and YHVH lifted him out of the mire and put his feet on the rock – a picture of what happens when we give our lives to Yeshua Moshiach. He alone is the solid, unshakable Rock on which to build our lives. If you are in any concern right now, don’t give up. Instead, turn to Moshiach and find in Him the solid Foundation you need.
