There's a chiasm in #leviticus 8:1-5, which I believe illustrates how a leader's obedience to God's instructions is vital to a healthy relationship between his people and God.

- A - V1-2 – God told Moses what to do with Aaron and sons
--- B - V3 – God told Moses to assemble the community at the entrance of the tent of meeting
----- C - V4a – Moses did as he was commanded
--- B - V4b – Moses assembled the congregation at the entrance of the tent of meeting
- A - V5 – Moses told the community what he was to do with Aaron and sons

Compare the ear/thumb/toe ritual for the priests in Leviticus 8 to that for the leper in Leviticus 14. Why are they the same?

>Leper and priest are both anointed on the ear/thumb/toe with blood.
>They both sit outside the tent for 7 days.
>The leper was separated from the people for sin and must be brought near the people before God. Leviticus 14
>The priest was one of the people in sin and must be brought near to God before the people. Leviticus 8
>The leper was set apart in sin. Leviticus 14
>The priest is now set apart in righteousness. Leviticus 8
>After the ear/thumb/toe atonement, both priest and leper are enabled to take their place in the community.
