As the Creator watched what was happening on the plains of Shinar and how no one was taking a stand against Nimrod He chose to do something drastic. Genesis 11:6, “And the LORD said, “If they have begun to do this as one people speaking the same language, then nothing they devise will be beyond them.” When Mankind is able to communicate properly, there is nothing that is withheld from understanding. Even today, when someone speaks the same language, if they do not define words the same way, there is confusion. Some teach that the confusion of language was the punishment for mankind’s sin but the confusion of language is necessary to prevent evil from leading to mankind’s destruction. As the people spread out all over the world they were no longer under Nimrod’s authority but the carried his influence with them. That influence remains in the world today and we can observe it if we know what to look for.
