Pay attention to all that I have said to you, and make no mention of the names of other gods, nor let it be heard on your lips.
#exodus 23:13 #mishpatim

This says not to let the names of pagan gods touch our lips. Does that mean we shouldn't say "Amen" because it sounds like "Amun"? No. It doesn't. That's a misunderstanding of both "Amen" and the intent of the command.

I always thought this was a hard one. Because the name of these gods are so much a part of our daily life, lije the names of days and months. Also, can't come up with an example, but arent some names of gods written in the bible? Why would they be there, yet we can not speak them. Do you have any insight on these things?

When it says not to make mention of the names of the pagan gods, I think of it this way. We see in the Torah many places that we are not to do something like the nations around us do. So apply this here. We should not use the names of other gods when giving examples to people, "Yes, we would keep the festival of lights, but we would do it more like Christmas". This is not to say it is good to talk about the days of the week with the names of other gods. As believers, we should live so our actions match our words. We need to live in a way that people won't come to the wrong conclusion thinking we "do it like..."

As many of you on the 6th day prepare for 7th day remember we have 6 days we are also to have a form of entering Yahushua's rest. So even though we run all over today to prepare for tomorrow, find time and space to enter it today as well. Peace'
