When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, "Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades."
#revelation 1:17-18

"Death and Hades" in this passage are Hades and Thanatos in the Greek. Death and Sheol (the Hebrew equivalent of Hades) are frequently mentioned together in ancient Jewish writings, often personified as active forces. Pagan deities often evolved from personified forces of nature and so were named by the forces they represented.

In Psalm 141:5 the psalmist is determined not to fall into doing evil so that he even calls on the righteous one to smite, or reprove/correct him in kindness. What does this mean?

Rabbi Steve Berkson clarifies the meaning of this verse in this excerpt from part four of the teaching, Evil, and explains how having the same desire as the psalmist could save your life.

Proverbs 2; 6—8, “For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk with integrity, to guard the paths of justice and protect the way of His saints.” The rules of logic dictate that if something is true, the opposite must also be true. When we trust the sacred word of our Creator we benefit by gaining wisdom and protection but when we trust our own way or the words of people we lose those benefits. Who will you choose to trust? Remember the proof of who you trust is revealed in the things you do.
