Joshua was an astute leader.

Those sent out to survey the land of Canaan in Joshua 18:4-10 didn't know which tribe would get which territory, so they had an incentive to be as fair as possible in drawing out borders.

There is a chiasm and triple parallelism in #leviticus 19 that associates fraud, oppression, and hatred with idolatry.

-A- v3 Reverence
---B- v4-29 Idolatry (chiasm)
-A- v30 Reverence
---B- v31 Idolatry
-A- v32 Reverence
---B- v33-36 Idolatry

When Love Requires Violence - American Torah

You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven… You therefore must be perfec

Little Moishe Rosenberg was so proud of himself for making a birthday cake for his mother. Chocolate cake being her weakness, Mrs. Rosenberg gulped down almost the entire thing. When she was finished, Little Moishie happily exclaimed, "I'm so glad you like the cake I made you, Mommy. I’m sorry, there should have been 32 candles on the cake, but they were all gone when I took it out of the oven."

Betty wakes up to a knock on her door. It’s 7am and it’s Mothers Day. Then Betty’s two teenage children, Suzy and Paul, walk into her room with smiles on their faces and say to her, "Happy Mothers Day, mum. Please don’t get up. As our treat to you, we want you to stay in bed and we’ll make breakfast."

Soon the smell of fried eggs and salami wafts up into her room and Betty is now really looking forward to her breakfast in bed. But after 15 minutes have gone by and there is still no breakfast, Betty gets up and goes downstairs to investigate. And there is Suzy and Paul sitting at the kitchen table finishing off their breakfast. And there’s nothing cooking. Betty looks at them both and says, "Nu? What’s with the breakfast?"

"We’ve already told you," replies Suzy. "It’s our surprise for Mothers Day. We decided to make our own breakfast this morning."

Kornblum is lying on the operating table, about to be operated on by his son, David, the surgeon. He turns to David and says, "Son, think of it this way ... If anything happens to me, your mother is coming to live with you."

#kedoshim (Leviticus 19-20) concerns maintaining divinely instituted boundaries. All of the rules in this passage have to do with keeping distinct the things that God designed to be distinct. Don't confuse one thing with another. Don't put one thing in the place of another thing or make it appear to be so.

In other words, "Be holy, because I am holy."

A challenge for this weekend!

Do not complain about anything this weekend! Does not matter how negative it feels. Let nothing bad come out of your mouth. Instead of complaining about being stuck in traffic, your response is going to be to thank our Moshiach for giving me this time to talk to You. Even if you have financial issues, thank YHVH. If there are arguments at home, address it with kindness and love, make peace, and thank YHVH for every situation. Try this weekend to speak only positive things over any and everything. It is only 2 days, BUT it may just be what you need in your relationship, in your work, or even in your quiet moments. When you open your mouth, let the first words be to thank YHVH for that moment, that problem, for food, for just being thankful. Try it and you will be surprised by how people will receive it. It may be just the turning point for them as well. Let it be a weekend of making peace with everyone in your life. Shabbat Shalom
