Question 382: Is Trouble Sent As A Punishment?
Answer:
The Bible does not teach that all trouble comes from YHVH as a punishment. It recognizes the fact that trouble is in the world and, while it has some very definite things to say about it, it does not attempt to give a complete solution of the whole problem. Hebrews 12:5-11 declares that YHVH does in some instances, discipline or "chasten," those whom He loves, but this could hardly be called punishment. (See also Deuteronomy 8:5; Psalm 94:12; John 15:2.) Sometimes however, calamity is a definite punishment, as in many cases during the history of Israel and particularly in their exile. The book of Job is a beautiful explanation of a form of suffering which has the double purpose of disciplining the soul and glorifying YHVH. Nothing can bring such credit to YHVH as the demonstration made by a soul that trusts and praises Him in the midst of misfortune. Paul and the other apostles glorified in their opportunities to suffer for Yeshua' sake. They rejoiced "that they were counted worthy to suffer shame in His Name" (Acts 5:41). They felt that He had borne so much for them that they wanted to bear something for Him. The Bible nowhere encourages people to dodge suffering; it exhorts them to bear it, while at the same time it exhorts them to lessen the sufferings of others and help them bear their woes. See James 1:2-5; 1 Peter 4:12-19; Galatians 6:2.

Question 381: What Is The Trinity; How Is It Possible; What Proof Is There Of It?
Answer:
These are questions that have bothered thousands of earnest believers. No one should feel discouraged if the doctrine of the Trinity seems difficult, because as must be remembered, the facts about YHVH are so much bigger than the brain of man that we cannot be expected in our present human state to comprehend them. The orthodox faith is that YHVH is Triune in person. believers feel by experience that YHVH is their Father, that Moshiach is their divine Saviour, that Ruach HaKodesh is their Comforter, Sanctifier and Strength. The Father is a person; the Son is a person; Ruach HaKodesh is a person; three distinct persons in one eternal undivided and indivisible essence. How this is possible is not beyond comprehension to Him that has learned to believe and know that to YHVH all is possible and all doubts may be banished by the beautiful thought that to all others there is here one more glorious mystery into the depths and wherefores of which we are to be introduced in the happy beyond. And the proof: 1.) What more convincing proof can be asked than the words of Him whom no one doubts, the Son of YHVH and of Man. He tells us "I and My Father are one," "He that seeth Me seeth Him that sent Me." In His farewell address to His disciples, He speaks of the Comforter which is Ruach HaKodesh whom the Father will send in My Name. At His baptism, the Father's voice is heard from heaven and Ruach HaKodesh descends in the form of a dove and lights upon Him. Yes, at the very beginning of things YHVH speaks of Himself in the plural, "Let us make man after Our Image," while all the while "the Spirit of YHVH moved upon the face of the waters." Truly proof sufficient for all who would believe.

I have a lot of notes and replies to things I've kept over the years. Something that I have shared quite a bit outside of the comics is a series of questions and verses to answer those questions. Each question and answer builds on each other. I am going to do a comic for each of these questions. This is question #7.

Thought for Today: Monday February 17
Often, we do not know why YHVH permits certain things to happen to us. We do know that evil is real, and we live in a world that is ravaged by sickness, death and sorrow – a world that is not the way YHVH intended it to be. Someday, our Moshiach’s victory will be complete and all this will be changed, but not yet. In the meantime, put your faith and hope in the Moshiach. He knows what it is to suffer; He went to the cross for us. And because He did, we have hope even in the midst of our darkest hours.
This portion includes Moses being reunited with is first wife and children through his father-in-law Jethro. Moses greets Jethro by bowing, shachah in Hebrew, proskuneo in Greek, which shows that we cannot use this action to determine who God is without specific context. Moses listens to Jethro and establishes a tiered leadership infrastructure just before the people get the Ten Commandments. Loving God is equated with keeping His commandments, which we strive to do. We also delve into the New Testament context and applications of the Ten Commandments showing that the Torah continues to be valid and in force until the end of days.
