I know I usually do a As The Torah Scrolls comic today, but while reading the chapter I got to this verse and wanted to talk about it. I grew up with the notion that Moses' name was Egyptian, because he was given his name from an Egyptian princess.
However, reading this story, especially this verse and looking at the Hebrew, I am not convinced of that any longer. First, he is named in the same manner as most of the people we read stories on in Genesis. Something happens, baby is born, baby is named after whatever happened. The end of Genesis 29 with Leah and her children is a great example of this.
The second item goes along with the first, but looking at the Hebrew, just like in these other cases there is a word used in the reasoning, the something that happened, that the name is very similar to. In this case what we translate as "drew out". The word uses the same letters as the name of Moses.
Just something interesting.

Hey folks! I'm new here! New to TTN. My wife just discovered it this morning. I have a few originals that I will probably share in the near future. They are all partially recorded at the moment, so I might just do a quick live video on my phone or something to share.
I don't know what the original intent of this group was, but I think it would be really cool if it could be like a songwriters roundtable, sharing songs, and ideas (musically and lyrically) and getting feed back from fellow musicians. Just a thought from the newbie! ?
Here's some holy spirit led music from the promise land!
