The logic of unbelievers is necessarily flawed because they have already rejected the truth. It doesn't matter how smart or knowledgeable you are if you refuse to consider an important aspect of reality. If you disbelieve in the God of Abraham because some pagan deity or a god of your own imagination has proven false....it's because you want to disbelieve, not because he isn't real and true.
Behold, I will put a spirit in him, so that he shall hear a rumor and return to his own land, and I will make him fall by the sword in his own land.
2 Kings 19:7
God often makes the proud to believe a lie which becomes their downfall. Sometimes the lie is about their own capabilities, causing an over-commitment, advancing when they should be withdrawing or consolidating. Sometimes it's something external as in this case, causing them to withdraw when they should advance.
22And it came to be, on the sixth day, that they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one. And all the rulers of the congregation came and told Mosheh.
23And he said to them, “This is what יהוה has said, ‘Tomorrow is a rest, a Sabbath set-apart to יהוה. That which you bake, bake; and that which you cook, cook. And lay up for yourselves all that is left over, to keep it until morning.’
