Loving Your Neighbor | Afflicted 4 Messiah

For most modern believers, love is often reduced to "simply loving others", while few have a clear or concrete understanding of what that truly means or entails. In reality, the concept of love varies greatly depending on who you ask, often

In direct defiance of our Creator, Genesis 11:4, “Come,” they said, “let us build for ourselves a city with a tower that reaches to the heavens, that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of all the earth.” When people gather against the Almighty nothing good happens. Genesis 11:7, “Come, let Us go down and confuse their language, so that they will not understand one another’s speech.”

This is a podcast from First Fruits Of Zion explaining how Hebrew Roots is different from Messianic Judaism. It is a little over 1 hour long. But it is divided into sections.

I started, but had to stop. This is the type of division that isn't needed. If you want to say Judaism+Jesus is what you feel you should be following, go for it. They seem to be lumping all the one-off crazy theologies out there and saying "this is HR". They also seem to imply that anyone that isn't MJ is HR (if you are following Torah and Messiah). So, while I don't consider myself HR, they would.

I found it ironic that they kind of laugh at the fact that mention that HR calls some of what MJ does traditions of men, and then uses those traditions as proof-points that HR is doing things wrong. Such as the Name. MJ doesn't pronounce the Sacred Name: A tradition from Judaism. We see throughout the Bible people pronouncing the Name and sometimes in everyday conversation such as with Boaz. (Ruth 2:4) So to say Biblically we are to not pronounce the Name is in error.

My biggest concern with most MJ lines of belief I have run into is shown in the titles of the later points: Can Gentiles do X. There is no Jew or Gentile in Messiah. Many MJs still draw that line. The whole point of the book of Acts is the removal of that line. Paul even goes further into it giving us the quote I started with and more detail.

When I got started on this walk, Greg Hershburg, a MJ in Georgia, was one I listened to quite often. However, he eventually started down this path of "if you are a Gentile you don't need to do this stuff". Making that distinction. We don't see Caleb or Ruth being told they don't need to do this stuff. Our Messiah is of Ruth's lineage. When did that lineage stop being "Gentile" enough to need to do these things?

I listened to the whole thing. While I found some of it to be educational, there are other things that I don't see eye to eye with.

For example, they say it is wrong to use the sacred name just because Yeshua and the Apostles didn't use it. I think they were just accommodating the sensitivities of their time as Romans 14:21 tells us to do. This was not a blanket ban on believers to not use sacred name.

Another error is the idea that Sabbath observance began with Mount Sinai and is only for Jews. The Sabbath has been around since the 7th day of creation week and is for everyone, not just Jews.

They also believe that there is nothing wrong with non-Jews celebrating Christmas and Easter. I understand that we must share light and not heat when it comes to correcting people, but to outright defend the practice of celebrating Christmas and Easter is wrong.

The elevate Jewish traditional too much. Yeshua criticized the Pharisees in Mathew 15:1-20 for putting their traditions above Yehovah's word.

Ephesians chapter 2 makes it clear that when you are a believer, you become part the commonwealth of Israel and are no longer a Gentile. I'm not saying that makes us Jews, but it does make us part of spiritual Israel.

There were a couple of things I learned from the podcast outside of HR. In time index 43:35, they said that even if a person can prove that they are genetically Jewish, that wouldn't make them actual Jewish because being Jewish is a legal definition

They also said on time index 50 minutes, that being a Jew does not refer to the tribe of Judah at all, but the Kingdom of Judah. According to them, most Israelites in the northern kingdom migrated to Judah and became Jews that way, regardless of what tribe they came from.

I hope everyone had a great Sabbath. As my wife and I were in fellowship listening to the message we were reminded of many good things. Hard times are ahead for the believers. Everyone needs to prepare and get ready for the end time. Messiah told us to pray that you would be worthy to escape things coming to pass and stand before the son of Adam. May we all be worthy. The Book of Revelation reveals that the woman, who is the body of Messiah will be given the wings as of a great eagle to fly into the wilderness. This is where she will be kept for 3 and 1/2 years during the Great tribulation. There are some who will go through it but I don't want to be one of them.

One purpose of the death and resurrection of Lazarus was to create a new mixed multitude for the New Covenant. That and more explained in this week's installment on the Gospel of John.
