This is the essence of what it means to take God's name in vain: To misrepresent his words by adding or subtracting from them.

Some religions and teachings sooth our cravings, but aren't good spiritual nutrition. Just like many things are edible, but not all of them are good to eat. You can derive physical nutrients from lots of things that God doesn't consider food.
