"Chosen before the foundation of the world" ?

Reading Ephesians 1 this morning the verse 4 says "He chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy and blameless in His sight."

There are other Bible references to being selected before the foundation of the world.

Does this mean that only certain people can ever be saved?
What about determining your own destiny?
If you are chosen, can you then sin forever and still be saved as you are predestined?

What are your thoughts on this?

I interpret this to mean that Yehovah foresaw Human's need of a Savior ahead of time.

Keepeth doth Yahweh all who love him Original Hebrew Scripture from Psalm 145
"Keepeth doth Yahweh all who love him: and all the wicked he will destroy."

Zechariah 14:2, “ Indeed, I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, the houses plundered, the women ravished, and half of the city will go forth in exile, but those left of the people will not be cut off from the city.” This event remains in our future and the first question is why would our Creator choose to gather all nations against Jerusalem? Because there will be some left to inhabit the city we should consider a division between those who are faithful and those who are not. We could speculate there will be some kind of action by the unfaithful that will cause our Creator to eradicate them while leaving the faithful to fill the void.

Shabbat thoughts.
The Orthodox Jews observe many modern prohibitions on the sabbath. ie, car travel, phone calls, turning on lights m, cooking....

Why do you do? And what do you feel we should do?

We need to observe and delight in YHVH's teachings, of course.
Does a sabbath day consist of just sitting around.

What do we do?

The biggest points for us are:

1. not to make others work for us
- Light meals are prepared on Friday
- We don't go shopping and when we travel to a meeting then we don't use it as an excuse to go buy stuff
- Dishes are done after sunset or left to Sunday
2. having extra rest
- We try to sleep in
- Have a ciesta in the afternoon
3. Bible study
- I try to focus on Scriture based topics on the day, so will avoid newspaper articles, etc. I watch quite a few hours of Torah based videos.
4. spending time fellowshipping with others
- when there is an opportunity then we meet with other believers, but due to distances try not to have to travel more than one Shabbat per month to ensure we get rest in overall during the month.

Thought for Today: Friday March 22

YHVH has not called us to a place of perfect service, but to a place of faithful service.

I need a safe space to vent. So...

I was on nextdoor.com where there have been many ads asking for money to be taught how to sun worship or missionaries for transcendental meditation (tm) proselytizing in africa. Religious posts are not permitted on the main feed, i was informed after greeting everyone for shabbat a year ago. I confirmed this with nextdoor. They wanted me to report the offenders. Instead, i posted a reminder of the rules on nextdoor. I was told it wasnt a very friendly reminder, so i apologized. Then i was told those werent considered religious posts. Then i explained how it is sun worship and hinduism and that most tmers are full of deceit and fraud and that they teach polyreligion. Then i posted that i had found a few that were kind hearted and seemed to be honest. Im frustrated with myself. Im frustrated with lies people peddle. Im frustrated and agitated. I asked Yah to forgive me for being so easily aggitated. All this started because i wanted to share peace and happiness on the day of rest. (Happy prep day, by the way!) I feel bad because i get so worked up when religious differences come up. Why cant i be more loving when correcting others? They might actually listen then. Instead, i info dump and it sounds like bigotry. So mad at myself right now!

Businesses have to be soooo careful not to get prosecuted that they focus their attention on those whom the world hates so that they can be seen to be proactive rather than be righteous judges an stand up for what is right.

The person on nextdoor replying to you has a low paying job and no incentive to stand up for what is right. Thus a culture of weak judges are bread and given the authority to make or break a matter. ?

Also remember Yeshua said that we will be hated for His sake. So rather rejoice in the fact that you are being persecuted for your beliefs as it shows you are not standing with the world.

This week's #torah reading begins the book of #leviticus (chapters 1:1-6:7, called #vayikra in Hebrew). Leviticus gets a bad rap: all blood, fire, and ritual. Most Christians dread it, but it's full of profound connections and glimpses into God's character. The central theme of the whole book is how to draw near to God, how to worship him. That sounds like something we ought to pay attention to. It's a big mistake to ignore it.
