God's timing rarely aligns with ours. What we think is the right time, usually isn't, but ultimately the Kingdom of God is wherever you are today. Live there as if you have already left Egypt. #bo #torah

So many people go by the sighted sliver moon. I want to know where Scripture says to do this. I have never found it. Please guide me.

I am a "sliverer" myself and I have not come across any Scripture that states at all the angle, illumination, position, etc. of the moon to determine the new moon. For me it is basically, the moon needs to be seen to be a sign.

This is why Ps 81:3 is so interesting as it might actually shed some light (pun intended) on the subject.

I can hear you ask "isn't the absence of something also a sign?".

For sure, the fact that I don't show any signs of leprosy is a sign that I don't have leprosy (well visible at least).

On the other hand, the only places that we are told to count days are to determine the feast dates after the month starts. There is no reference in Scripture to calculate the days to determine the next new moon. I therefore take it that it has to be a visual queue to confirm a new moon.

This makes me think, how do we know a plant has sprouted and is growing? Well, the first green shoot has to come out of the ground. It can be under the ground for months and sometimes even years. It is only when it is visible that we take it as a new plant.

Genesis 1 says that the lights in the heavens are for determining dates. It does not use the word for "moon" at all, simply the word for "light." The moon is dark for multiple days in most cases, but there is only one day on which we can look for the sign of new "light" in the heaven for a new month. I think the sliver viewpoint comes from this line of reasoning. (Which I happen to agree with.)

Joshua Williams as i sit here and think about your reply regarding light being a sign, isnt lack of light a sign as well? For instance, trick or treaters arent supposed to knock on doors without a porch light on. Also, darkness existed before light, so everything started in darkness. Similarly, we start the day in darkness, after the evening begins.

Good morning, all! I have an important request this morning. A person who recently closed their ttn account is in need of prayer. They have been under spiritual attack for some time. If you can join them in their fast through friday, please do. This person is really suffering from their burden. Thank you for lifting them up as often as you can. Shalom!

Some people have to learn the hard way. You won't be doing them any favors if you keep bailing them out. If you're one of those people, take heart. Seek out and listen to the advice of those with more wisdom and experience than you have.

Some People Have to Learn the Hard Way. Proverbs 19:19-20

A man of great wrath will pay the penalty, for if you deliver him, you will only have to do it again. Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. Proverbs 19:19-20

Sometimes, the hard way leads to prison. Oh, that people would learn before it gets to that point.

Proverbs 15:32 comes to mind "Whoever ignores instruction despises himself, but he who listens to reproof gains intelligence."

If you are hardheaded then you'll have to be "broken" so that the Holy Spirit can shape you into the form that Father needs you.

Contrary, you can remain hardheaded and not be reshaped or remain broken if you do not allow the Holy Spirit to complete the work in you. ?

Leviticus 23:5—6, “The Passover to the LORD begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month. On the fifteenth day of the same month begins the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the LORD. For seven days you must eat unleavened bread.” Passover is an event that really only lasts as long as it takes to eat a meal. The Feast of Unleavened Bread is the actual feast that would last for the seven day period. Today however most people think of Passover as the week long feast.
