The Priest permanently forfeits office if he touches any holy objects while in a state of uncleanness. Sacrifices aid the people's relationship with God. If a priest spoils a sacrifice, he sins against both people and God.
Teachers who corrupt the Gospel by teaching lawlessness are like priests who knowingly corrupt sacrifices. They defile the people's offerings of worship and service with sin even if the people are ignorant.
Leviticus 22:1-4
A Levitical priest may not marry a loose, adulterous, profane, divorced, or abandoned woman. Leviticus 21:7-8
On the other hand, the High priest may only marry a virgin of Israel. Leviticus 21:13-15
You might not be a priest, but it's still wise to be selective about the women (or men) you consider for marriage. There's no sin in marrying a widow, divorcée (depending on circumstances), nor even a former prostitute or adulteress (as long as you're not a priest). None-the-less, be cautious. Character is everything and the character of your marriage will make or break the rest of your life.
