Tonight on the Biblical Calendar that we follow is the Day of Atonement. A day that while it is upcoming, everyone focuses on repentance. Should we only repent this time of year? No, of course not. But, God does make this a special time of year. One to look deep into yourselves and find everything that you may be holding onto and turning away from it.
As pointing out in the comic, church mainly teaches that someone who is sorrowful is someone who is repentant. This is not what the Bible says. I can be sorrowful over the fact that I took my neighbor's lunch at school. I can apologize to them. But If I continue eating it, or do it again on down the road, I didn't repent. I was just sorry I got caught.
The word for repent in Hebrew is שוב (shub), which is defined by turning back, returning. Returning to what? The path set forth. The instructions. תורה (Torah). Torah is translated as Law in our Bibles, but this isn't what the word means. Torah's root is ירה (yara) which is an archery term for aiming at a mark. Torah is hitting the mark. Torah is the instructions, the path we aim to be on. As Jesus/Yeshua put it in John 8:11 "Go and sin no more."

Are you ready to see the sins of the believers covered, never to be mentioned again? Yom Kippur is not about the things we do as individuals but the things we do as a body of believers. One of the most grievous things we do is to divide ourselves from each other through our traditions and denominational doctrines. We should be willing to be in one accord with each other as we should be in complete agreement with the Creator.
Thought for Today: Wednesday October 05:
May YHVH fill you afresh today with His Spirit so that you will respond in faith to the smallest nudge within you. May you walk away from time wasters so that you may possess all Elohiym wants to give you. May you turn a deaf ear to lies that feel true, so you can embrace the beautiful truth that is true! May YHVH’s Presence and Love be tangible to you.
Homeschooling Torah (and the Elliott family and the congregation they attend, as well as many other people around the world) isn't celebrating Yom Kippur until sunset on Thursday, October 6. Why? This seems weird, doesn't it? Anne shares the reasons behind it:

Yom Kippur Shalom in the Name of our High Priest, Yeshua!
For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Messiah Yeshua, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.

Yom Kippur is a wonderful teaching day for the children. Here are some ideas:

They shall be wasted with hunger, and devoured by plague and poisonous pestilence; I will send the teeth of beasts against them, with the venom of things that crawl in the dust.
Deuteronomy 32:24
That sounds familiar....
Behold, I saw a horse, pale greenish gray. The name of the one riding on it was Death, and Sheol was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill by sword and by famine and by plague and by the wild beasts of the earth.
Revelation 6:8
