In context, #proverbs 5:5-6 is talking about an adulterous woman, but the principle applies more broadly. Many people whose feet are leading them down a destructive path believe that they are doing right. The problem is that they are trusting in their own innate sense of right and wrong, when the advice of our own hearts is always be tainted by an evil inclination. We need an external, objective standard to keep our consciences in line.

The restoration of a nation or a people group is probably best represented by this verse from 2 Chronicles 7:14, “and if my people, who have my name proclaimed over them, humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sins and heal their land.”

Thought for Today: Wednesday September 28:
The promised coming of Moshiach has been a great hope of believers throughout centuries. The ancient Nicene Creed affirms: He shall come again with Glory! Charles Wesley wrote 7000 hymns; 5000 mentioning the coming of Moshiach. As the archbishop of Canterbury crowned the Queen Elizabeth II, he stated: I give thee, o sovereign lady, this this crown to wear until He Who reserves the right to wear it shall return. …someday the heavens will shout: The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Adonai and of Moshiach and He shall Reign for ever and ever! – Revelation 11:15. Moshiach alone is the answer to the burdens of our hearts and the hopelessness of our world.
