Job 27;1, “Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,” This translation from the KJV makes what Job had to say sound sound less than factual. However the original word translated as parable in this verse means “a strong lesson that we should press into.” Losing the original meaning makes much of the Bible sound more poetic than authoritative. The next verse, “As God liveth, who hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul;” As God lives indicates that what Job has to say should be taken with all of the authority that is due the sacred word of our Creator.
