And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, “Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him.
#exodus 2:9 #shmot

A daughter of Pharaoh (king of Egypt) conspires with a daughter of Levi to preserve a messiah of Israel. I don't know what the significance is, but it's interesting. Maybe Mary's cousin Elizabeth had some role in Joseph taking his family to Egypt to escape Herod, a daughter of King David and a daughter of Levi.

Women take center stage in the first part of Moses' life story: Jochebed, Miriam, Bithiah, and Zipporah. Women received and preserved Israel's messiah in Egypt, Moses. This same pattern would play out again centuries later with Israel's ultimate Messiah and King, #yeshua.

A chiasm spans the story of Moses' birth and centers on Miriam witnessing the events. I suspect this means that Miriam is the original source of the material in #exodus 1:1-15.

Soil from Stone: Did Miriam Author Part of the Bible?

There is an obvious chiasm in Exodus 1-2 in the story of Moses' birth and adoption into Pharaoh's house. The chiasm includes at least Exodus...

When she could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes and daubed it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and placed it among the reeds by the river bank.
Exodus 2:3

Moses' mother made an ark and covered it with pitch, saving Israel and the world from the flood of Egypt. His ark was much like Noah's: plant material coated with pitch to save humanity through dangerous waters. The word for "pitch" is kofer, spelled exactly the same in Hebrew as kipur, which means atonement. Moses in the river and Noah in the Flood are prophetic foreshadowings of another exceptional man saving the world by atonement.

If we as women of God, want our children and our grandchildren saved... we must first line up with the word of God . Is it easy ??? No , but we must resist the devil , violently resist him, and he has to flee and yes I'm speaking of that flesh devil inside of us that wants our own way . You can LOOK like the holiest woman on earth but if you don't submit to your husband , if you constantly usurp his God given authority .... We need to check our salvation. God help me first ..... the bible does not say if he's a perfect man obey him, or if he does everything right in your eyes obey him. It just says he's the HEAD AND CHRIST IS HIS HEAD . SO...when we dishonor our husband we dishonor Christ !!!!! And that is the WORD !!!

Not wanting to cause any strife, but looking for an honest, loving discussion. Where do you draw the line one this? If he wants you to do something against Torah? Do you think it's "I must obey man rather than God?" Or does the husband's authority take precedent? And if that is the case, where do you draw the line then? You certainly wouldn't murder someone for him. Take the vax? Tell a lie? Just where is this line then? Really mean this in an honest and searching way, not trying to place judgement down. It's just a very tough spot for us and we have lost our way on this as society, and even the church offer no guidance

Jewish tradition says that Jochebed, Moses' mother, was born as Jacob arrived at Egypt, which would make her 130 years old when Moses was born. Although I like the prophetic symbolism of a miraculous birth, there is no mention of this in Scripture, and it seems to me like an attempt to shoehorn a much later idea into the real story.

SIN

Part 3 -- GREED

HOW CAN GREED BE RECOGNIZED AND CONTROLLED?

GREED IS OFTEN PRESENT BEHIND AMBITION.
Moses spoke again to Korah: Now listen, you Levites! Does it seem a small thing to you that YHVH of Israel has chosen you from among all the people of Israel to be near Him as you serve in Adonai’s Tabernacle and to stand before the people to minister to them? -- Numbers 16:8-9 Moses saw through Korah, Dathan, and Abiram’s charge to their true motivation -- some of the Levites wanted the power of the priesthood. Like Korah, we often desire the special qualities Elohim has given others. Korah had significant, worthwhile abilities and responsibilities of his own. In the end however, his ambition for more caused him to lose everything. Inappropriate ambition is greed in disguise. Concentrate on finding the special purpose Elohim has for you.

GREED OFTEN ACCOMPANIES PROSPERITY.
YHVH your Elohim will soon bring you into the land He swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. It is a land filled with large, prosperous cities that you did not build. The houses will be richly stocked with goods you did not produce. You will draw water from cisterns you did not dig and you will eat from vineyards and olive trees you did not plant. When you have eaten your fill in this land, be careful not to forget Elohim, Who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt. -- Deuteronomy 6:10-12. Moses warned the people not to forget Elohim when they entered the Promised Land and became prosperous. Prosperity more than poverty, can dull our spiritual vision, because it tends to make us self-sufficient and eager to acquire still more of everything -- except Elohim. Instead of leading to contentment, prosperity can just as easily lead to greed. The same thing happens in many churches today Once we become successful in terms of numbers, programs and buildings, we can easily become self-sufficient and less sensitive to our need for Elohim. This leads us to concentrate on self-preservation rather than thankfulness and service to YHVH.

GREED CAN BE CURED BY HUMBLE RELIANCE UPON GOD.
What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Isn’t it the whole army of evil desires at war within you? You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous for what others have and you can’t possess it, so you fight and quarrel to take it away from them. And yet the reason you don’t have what you want is that you don’t ask Elohim for it. -- James 4:1-2. The cure for evil desires is humility -- see Proverbs 16:18-19; 1 Peter 5:5-6. Pride makes us self-centred and leads us to conclude that we deserve all we can see, touch or imagine. It creates greedy appetites for far more than we need. We can be released from our self-centred desires by humbling ourselves before Elohim, realizing that all we really need is His approval. When Ruach HaKodesh fills us, we see that this world’s seductive attractions are only cheap substitutes for what Elohim has to offer.
