Looking good is fine and there's nothing wrong with having nice stuff, but fancy clothes, buildings, and attitudes can be an impediment to relationship with God. He doesn't want our jewelry and pinstripes. He wants us, warts and all, and he often bares our souls through trials, to strip away the filth and distractions of our lives so he can judge us without anger.
Exodus 33:5-6
God knows us better than we could ever know ourselves, yet He still loves us. That is true grace.
