I don't think you can accurately say that you know God if you can't reconcile "God is love" with "kill every man, woman, child, and beast in this city". God is one and he doesn't change from one century to the next.

I would like to see how the Name was actually written before 1000 BC. I'm not talking about script, but orthography. I think that the final letter He is a vowel marker in this Name, and thus wouldn't occur before 1000BC when it is thought that letter He was only used for the consonant 'h'.

This inscription is quite extensive. I wonder if it has been interpreted. The first line could read 'Ant- dhu ...' "Thou who..."
The third line, "`arkum laba`lati", "an arrangement for the Mistress" e.g. Egyptian goddess Hathor
