If you say that you are inadequate to the mission God has assigned to you, then you are completely misunderstanding your mission.

The problem with saying that “We are grasshoppers in our eyes” is that we are irrelevant. Stop looking at yourself and start looking at God! Is He a grasshopper in your eyes?

You may be familiar with the phrase “love means never needing to say you’re sorry”. This could be one of the least accurate descriptions there is. Loving someone as you would love your spouse or as you love a family member or even a close friend should mean that you would never purposefully do anything to offend them. Two verses address this Deuteronomy 6:5 “And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” And of course John 14:15 “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”

One quick question, which translation did you quote James 1:27 "Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world" from?

And is this a copy/paste of the verse or did you retype it? I am interested in the part that says "God and the Father"... I might have to dig into the Greek for this.

Thank you for looking into that Henk.

The Hebrew word for orphan יָתוֹם YATHOM
means fatherless is first mentioned together with widow in Exodus 22. Interestingly enough, the punishment for afflicting a widow or orphan is your wife and children becoming them:
‘Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry; and my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.’
‭‭- Exodus‬ ‭22‬:‭22‬-‭24‬ ‭KJV

That might give us a clue to what the spiritual meaning is. Thinking out loud: those who are without God the FATHER should not be looked down on or be dealt with harshly by us. For this is what the law is:
‘Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.’ - ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22‬:‭37‬-‭40‬ ‭KJV‬‬
If we depart from the law that is written in our hearts, we lose connection with the father and become orphaned. As a man is head of the family he will in that case therewith orphan his children and widow his wife in the spiritual realm.

Again, I’m thinking out loud.

Thought for Today: Thursday July 31

Are there anything YHVH cannot do? The answer may surprise you – Yes, there are some things that He cannot do. YHVH cannot lie, He cannot go back on His Promises, He cannot do something evil and He cannot have impure thoughts. YHVH cannot do anything that is contrary to His Character. He is not only Perfect but He is also Sovereign and All-Powerful. Because of His Pureness, nothing is too hard for Him. Remember, He brought Yeshua back to life and He can help you overcome whatever situation you are facing today.

you know what came up in my mind?
those things of 'cannot' are empty, nothing, nothingness.
versus the truth a lie is nothing, impure thoughts are based on lies, evil is performed from impure thoughts.
and, outside time, a promise made is already done.
