Paul, a highly educated man with probably more knowledge of Torah than any of us combined, still didn't see that Yeshua was the Mashiach. It took an act of the spirit to change him. Torah is important, having the Holy Spirit is critical.

A group of us were just talking about this. When you first come into Torah knowledge seems like the only thing that matters. You read and read, study and learn... oh and unlearn. But that quest for knowledge can cause you to forget to serve, show compassion, be humble... and forget to harness the power of the resurrection! I was guilty of that. Working on it... ?
