This was sobering today, and enlightening as to life before the Great Depression. We must be ready in season and out. I think I am probably less prepared at this point than I have been in ten years. A scary position to be in, but I only moved to Ukraine recently, so I don't even have my things from England right now.

God loves us so much that He meets us where we are: "While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). But His love does not leave us there. When we genuinely receive God's love, we cannot remain the same. His love transforms us and empowers us to walk in holiness each day.

Praying Psalm 13

O my Adonai, how long will You forget me? Forever? How long will You look the other way? How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day? How long will my enemy have the upper hand? Turn and answer me, O Adonai my Elohim! Restore the sparkle to my eyes or I will die. Don’t let my enemies gloat, saying, “We have defeated him!” Don’t let them rejoice at my downfall. But I trust in Your unfailing love. I rejoice because You have rescued me.
