BERIT CHADASHAH (Blessing for the New Covenant)
Hebrew (After reading the Berit Chadashah) ---
Baruch Attah Adonai Eloheinu Melech Ha-Olam, Asher Natan Lanu Ha-Devar Ha’emet Ve-chayei Olam Nata Betokheinu. Baruch Attah Adonai, Notein Ha-Berit Ha-Chadashah
English (After reading the Berit Chadashah)
Blessed are You Lord our God, King of the universe, Who gave to us the Word of Truth and planted everlasting life in our midst. Blessed are You Lord, Giver of the New Covenant.
Praying Psalm 11
I trust in You Adonai for protection. So why do You say to me, “Fly like a bird to the mountains for safety! The wicked are stringing their bows and fitting their arrows on the bowstrings. They shoot from the shadows at my heart which is right. The foundations of Law and Order have collapsed. What can I do?” But I know my Adonai is in His holy Temple; my Adonai still rules from heaven. I know You are watching everyone closely, examining every person on earth. I know You, my Adonai examines both the righteous and the wicked. I know You hate those who love violence. I know You my King, will rain down blazing coals and burning sulphur on the wicked, punishing them with scorching winds. For You, my righteous Adonai YHVH loves justice. The virtuous will see Your face. Amein.
One for you Ashlyn: Decided today that due to rain there will be no barbeque for me and my 2, 4-legged kiddies. Instead, I decided to make yummy "vetkoek"!
500gr white bread flour
5ml sugar
about 40ml butter
5ml salt
10gr instant dry yeast
Luke warm water
oil for deep frying
Method: Mix all the dry ingredients together, rub in the butter until it looks like bread crumbs. Slowly add luke warm water until you get a soft dough consistency. Kneed until smooth and elastic. Cover and leave in room temperature until doubled in size. Kneed down and cut tennis ball size portions and place on buttery tray. Leave until it rose to nearly double it size. Deep fry in oil until golden brown and cooked through. Turn vetkoek half way through cooking.
It is fantastic with cheese and tomato or curried mince. Ilove it when it is still hot.

Thought for today: Sunday August 08: Trust
YHVH's grace is abundant and He never disappoints those who are afflicted or tormented, if they fully trust in Him.
So we say with confidence: "The Lord is my Helper, I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" (Heb. 13:6)
O my Good Shepherd, Adonai Yeshua, because You are my Helper and I serve You with sincerity, my life is filled with trust that is born from my relationship with You. May You be praised today by every living creature that has breath. Amein
