Clothing and coverings in Scripture can symbolize concealment, atonement, protection, and authority.
There are six items of clothing listed for the high priest in #exodus 28, eight if the bells and pants are included. Does each represent a different type of atonement?
Only the high priest is allowed to wear mixed linen and wool garments. Why is this?
The priest wears more color and finery as you move outward, but the description in this passage starts on the outside and moves inward (God sees thru all our trappings straight to the heart?), while the initial description of the Tabernacle and its contents starts from the inside and moves outward.

"You take for yourself..." in Exodus 28:1 is emphatic to say that Moses and nobody else is to inaugurate Aaron and sons into the priesthood, and he is to have no part in it himself.
This same form echoes 27:20 "You command yourself...". Not only is Moses to have no part in the priesthood, but he is to command the people to recognize the priestly order that God has instituted.
