Make sure you read the Bible for yourself. Not every fellowship out there follows and teaches the Bible as they should. Also, it's important to read your Bible so that you know if what a pastor is teaching is correct. My wife and I have ran into at least two pastors in Central Tennessee who claim to be called by God but they are not. They are narcissists, they are deceivers, liars and wolves in sheep's clothing. You won't be able to spot them unless you know the word well enough. These men creep into fellowships who are naive and don't know the word. Remember the bereans? Be like them.
And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
Matthew 25:10-12
Some deathbed conversions might be sincere, but I suspect that most of them are just charades. If a person says, "I'm going to keep doing what I want right up to the last minute, then I'll tell God I'm sorry and didn't mean it," he's clearly intending to lie to God and God is never fooled.
If you mean to repent, then repent. Or else you don't really mean to repent.

Zephaniah 2:6-7

It's interesting to watch how Ash Wednesday went straight into "Jews are bad". It seems like often we keep having to re-hash the same kinds of arguments that were all ready hashed in the time of YHSVH.
The ten virgins in the parable in Matthew 25 weren't there to become brides. Even in a polygamous culture, no groom marries ten women in a single night. These women were part of the bride's wedding party, like bride's maids in our wedding customs today.
