Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Romans 8:8 ESV

It is impossible to please God if you refuse to keep his Law or to trust him. Such a person has either convinced himself that he is right in whatever he does, that the Torah no longer applies for whatever reason, or else that he can never understand, never do enough, learn enough, to please God. Either position betrays a lack of trust, and the faithless person becomes God's enemy regardless of how nice or kind he might be otherwise.

For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot.
Romans 8:7 ESV

Not submitting to God's Law is equated with hostility to God, but this is a consequence of the law of the spirit of sin that inhabits our mortal bodies. It is useless to teach the principles of Torah to an unrepentant sinner because he is unable to comprehend it. He sees no value in it.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Romans 8:6 KJV

Being carnally minded means allowing fleshly passions and ungodly reasoning to dictate our behaviors rather than the explicit commands of Torah. Setting the mind on the flesh subjects one to the law of sin, because the flesh is weak against the spirit of sin. It easily masters the carnally minded man.

"Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh..." Romans 8:5

Setting one’s mind on the flesh isn’t just indulging in hedonism, but also indulging fear.

Am I keeping God’s holy days exactly right? Did I accidentally say the name of a pagan god? Should I change my name because I have it in common with a pagan god? What will happen if persecution comes? What if I get fired? What if a tornado hits my house?

All of these might be legitimate concerns so long as they don’t become obsessions and begin to negatively impact the rest of our spiritual lives.

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Ruach set their minds on the things of the Ruach.
Romans 8:5 TLV

What does it mean to live according to the flesh? To live according to the spirit? How does living according to the flesh lead to death? How does the spirit lead to life? And why are you completely incapable of pleasing God on your own?

...so that the requirement of the Torah might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Ruach.
Romans 8:4 TLV

Yeshua fulfilled the Law by living it out perfectly. His sinless life condemns sinners, but his resurrection condemns the sin itself, enabling its complete removal, so that all who believe in him can begin to live righteous lives in accordance with the Law. His righteousness becomes ours, earning us eternal life as hinted at in Matthew 5:20, and enabling us to walk according to the spirit in agreement with all of the commandments of the Law without fear that any slight mistake will condemn us. He fulfilled the Law so that our fulfillment of it might have greater purpose.

hi people, henk here.
now i'm new to social media, hence the series of weird photos, thought i was still defining myself, if one has to fall on one's face, why not from the start.
i'm looking for the afflicted of the flock (zech 11). those whose hearts burn and yearn for our God, even as we judge ourselves falling so far short that we, well, stand condemned....and yet hope.
but before i look for them, i'm looking for someone to give me guidance in this new world i've entered.
i wish to share rather a complete meal, which means i need to do a series of explanations as a starting point. then there's a whole smorgasbord we can delve into, which i would find fine to be a la carte, as in i love being driven by questions, they help me learn too.
so i need to know, group?forum?article? and how does it work? that kind of stuff.
my emphasis is on the spiritual aspect, this is where the real gold lies.
the Spirit has given me so much, more than i asked for, and i am obligated to share what i've been given.
i'm no preacherman, nor prophet, nor anything grand, i just see things, and now nobody needs to tell me 'know the Lord', excepting for the purpose of enrichment, and i want that same for you.
excuse me, i'm a wild branch from the furthest corner of the earth, there were no companions at all there. there is absolutely nobody talking about what i have found, yet...
if you're worried that i deviate from Scripture, it's my sole source, because the more i saw the more convinced i became that this Book, while so comprehensive and far-ranging, is so tightly interwoven there are no spaces between the lines, no inconsistencies at all, to the point that not a word is out of place, and that even includes the New Testament, which i know will raise eyebrows.
obviously, i need to explain what i mean, so, who is moved by what i say, and can guide me how to, please?

For what was impossible for the Torah—since it was weakened on account of the flesh—God has done. Sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as a sin offering, He condemned sin in the flesh—
Romans 8:3 TLV

The Law is not weak in itself. As a reflection of God’s character, it is perfect. How could it condemn the entire human race if it were weak? The weakness is in the people who are unable to accept it on their hearts and keep it in their flesh. See Exodus 20:18-21.
