OOMs ?
You are a dwarf, with leathery, bristling hide, a hooked nose, and long, broad, prying fingers.
A square passage of Roman concrete, patiently smooth, stained with centuries: epoch after epoch you can trace by the sagacity of your nose. But it is an unknown junction in a maze of your own creating.
Taking the northwest-bound way, and junctions and corners to follow, you find the opening you detected many hours before. The roof has been thrown aside by some means, and a ramp of scree has filled in the end of the way, leading to a leaden sky. As you begin to make your way up the unstable slope, there is a half-buried broken thing you smell before you see.
It is a woebegone doll, and it is familiar to you.

This week's Torah portion aligns with Romans 13 (and others). Abraham's reliance on the loyalty of his servant to find a wife for Isaac is contrasted with the treachery of Adonijah. Paul told us to respect proper authorities. And the bible remains consistent from Genesis until now!

Amazing things start to happen when people actually believe God will do what He says and take action on that belief. We step out in faith that God will heal us, provide financial and other resources, and guide our paths in life. Why, then, do we have trouble believing God will restore all of Israel’s Lost Tribes as He has promised?
Margot Crossing and Richard Hewitt have learned to believe God’s promises to regather and restore all Israel. That’s why they have been working for many years among people groups in Asia who know their connection to ancient Israel, and why they are shepherding the establishment of an institute to dedicate serious academic attention to this subject. They took a major step by participating in the Interconnectivity of Ancient Israel in Asia Symposium in Aizawl, India, in November 2023. In this interview, we hear about the symposium, and about the contributions to it by scholars from Japan, Korea, India, and other nations.

Notice the parallels between the betrothal of Isaac and Rebekah (Genesis 24) and the anointing of King Saul (1 Samuel 10-11). In both stories, girls draw water from a well, and God reveals an anointed one. Rebekah completes Isaac as a patriarch, while Saul unites Israel as a nation.
There are also parallels between the betrothal of Rebekah and the prophecy of Samson's birth (Judges 13). In both stories, a woman at a well is chosen and greeted by a messenger. In both stories the woman tells the man of the house who then speaks to the messenger. Eliezer refused to eat at Bethuel's house and the Angel refused to eat at Samson's father's house.

At the distance of 80 years, the events of World War II in Europe are rapidly becoming the stuff of legend shrouded in the mists of time. If we lose the hard-won lessons of that era, we shall have to pay a high price to relearn them. That is why history is important. S.J. Ratcliffe takes a literary approach to the lessons of World War II in Stones of Wrath: The Twins, the second volume of her historical fiction series. In this work, she demonstrates once again the power of historical fiction in transmitting the lessons of the past to new generations.
