What do sliverists do if they live in a place like Seattle, WA? It rainsmost of the time there. Rain means clouds. Clouds mean a moon can't be sighted. They would have very few, very long months!

Is it too much to believe that Israel’s exiles migrated all the way to Japan? Margot Crossing and Richard Hewitt address that question in this second part of our conversation. It’s a question that Japanese scholars Arimasa Kubo and Kengo Nagami, among others, have been investigating for many years. They are among the contributors to the Interconnectivity of Ancient Israel in Asia Symposium that Margot and Richard attended in November 2023. From what they share with us, it seems that symposium will be remembered in years to come as the launch of the Lost Tribes Institute.
How do we know this is an initiative from the Lord? How do we know if anything is the Lord’s leading – especially when He seems to be taking us the opposite way we think we should be going? That’s the topic of discussion in this week’s midrash from David Jones and Barry Phillips called, “When YHWH Leads You the Wrong Way.” Spoiler alert: the answer has something to do with how much we trust our God, as we hear from our musical guests, Laura Metzing and Samuel & Benjamin Wearp.

The rest that Yeshua gives is spiritual and emotional in nature. He alleviates our fears, heals our wounds, and enables us to develop a full relationship with our Heavenly Father. A chiasm in Matthew 11:28-30 illustrates how you can bring that Spiritual Sabbath into your own life.

Moses and Aaron were only men and, therefore, imperfect mediators of the covenant at Sinai. Yeshua is more than man. In mediating the New Covenant that God promised to the houses of Israel and Judah, he enables mankind to covenant directly with God, to hear the Voice that we were unable to stand at Sinai.
Hebrews 12:18-25
Should Christians keep the Ten Commandments? Paul seemed to think so:
What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”

I have just taken this photo to show you and it hasn't been Photoshopped. 😁
So, there are three parts to my conundrum and your question is about part 3:
1. What if I live at a different latitude than Israel? - If I live below the equator or in a different climate region then my seasons can be as much as 6 months different. Do I then look at my local barley harvest and keep my season according to my local conditions?
2. What if I live at a different longitude than Israel? - The moon will be visible/non-visible minutes or hours later or earlier than in Israel. Do I then keep the day according to my local sighting?
3. What is the start of a moon/month? - Is the absence or the visibility of the moon confirmation that the new moon/month has started?
I have been thinking about the conversations we have had about Passover and Sukkot having to fall on a full moon and if it is out by a day or two then our calculations are wrong. Is that maybe an assumption on our part? I can't recall any verse that says that it has to be. Even Ps 81:3 which says: “Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.” isn’t clear to me as to the day it is talking about.
We want to assume it is Passover, but then “new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day” indicates that the appointed solemn feast day (assuming it is Passover) has to be on the new moon. So both dark moon and sliverers are out by about 14 days if we want a full moon at Passover.
If Ps 81:3 talks about Yom Teruah then the new moon can be a dark moon, the first sliver or a full moon as we are yet to determine for 100% certainty what moon phase is the new moon.
I personally am stumped at this point in time as I can’t for the life of me find any verses that outright states when the new month starts and therefore whether I have to look at the dark moon, the sliver, the full moon or for that sake, any other phase of the moon. That is why people are using so many other signs to try and find a stable “foundation” to keep the feasts at and at least feel that we are keeping it in accordance to Father’s will.
If you have come across any additional verses then please add it to: https://social.ttn.place/forums/thread/95
I now believe that the cloudiness of the UK is teaching me that we are living under a curse and therefore can’t keep Father’s feasts as He has ordained. We won’t be able to figure it out as too much culture and information has been lost over the generation for us to know for certain what the Bible says we should do. All that we can do is to support one another in our faith and if we keep the feasts at different time then we don’t judge as we can’t prove from Scripture alone that our own view is correct.

If we ignore a third of what Yah designated to be used as signs for times and seasons, we're not going to have the whole picture.
