Was the entire city of Shechem (Was the city called Shalem or Shechem? It depends on who you ask and what translation you're reading.) guilty of Dinah's kidnapping in Genesis 34? All of Shechem was killed or enslaved by Jacob's sons. At least Gibeah, the city of Benjamin where a Levite's concubine was murdered in Judges 19, had a chance to repent before the rest of Israel besieged them.

Happy prep day! If youre north of the mason dixon, drive safe! We were supposed to get ice & snow, but only got shards of thin ice. North of I-80 was supposed to get more. No pretties for us this time! It would be interesting if anyone this far south was able to see the aurora last night, as the geomagnetics rated 7 after midnight. Too cloudy here.
And the young man did not delay to do the thing, because he delighted in Jacob's daughter. Now he was the most honored of all his father's house.
Genesis 34:19
Based on the ages and timelines given in Genesis, Dinah was a young teenager when she was abducted by Shechem, probably between 12 and 16 years old. Shechem was a manipulative rapist and the most honored man in his father's house. Serious parenting fail. Not all badly behaved children were made so by their parents, but clearly Shechem's father was a contributing factor here. #vayishlach

Lily Portion for Today: Friday December 01
Women, teach your children, that every step closer to Moshiach means death to yet another of their doubts and worries. (Prayer: Thank You Adonai, that we need not be separated from You, despite our busy lives. Please grant my family Your everlasting peace, amen.)
Sometimes doing the right thing lead to trouble. Genesis 39:9,” There is no one in his house greater than I. He has not kept anything from me, except you. And that is because you are his wife. How can I do such an evil thing? It is a sin against God.”This event records Potiphar’s wife desiring Joseph and her feeling of rejection so she falsely accuses Joseph. We need to remember doing what is right in the eyes of our Creator will often cause the unbeliever to make false accusations and cause us trouble but our Creator will see this and use it for HIs glory and honor.
