Our community has a bad habit of developing a feel-sorry-for-myself-martydom complex. Where getting rejected becomes our identity that makes us feel righteous. Spuring us to look for the differences between us so that we can daily reestablish our martydom as the "only one who knows the truth". This is not of Yah.

Love your brothers and sisters in Messiah. Learn what's worth dividing over and what is good healthy debate/discussion. Embrace the opportunities to sharpen your iron with iron.

Totally agree and don't get me wrong, I believe we should compare ourselves with the world and basically do the total opposite of what they do. 😉

BUT it is very much like a "lable" to be different and when we are then talking between our bretherin then we are still looking for differences so that we can use it as a point of argument.

Yes, we should look for differences in our beliefs BUT then use it as a subject for discussion and learning; like the Bereans. It might be that we come to the understanding that both our points of view are wrong and then come to the correct understanding together.

Unfortunately the world has raised us to believe that one view has to be correct and if we then disagree then we can't walk the walk together any longer. What a pitty as we are dividing into such small groups as we will only "allow" those in our midst who believes exactly like we do.

How is it that we can disagree with a sinner and still walk a mile with them, but when it comes to our family then we turn our backs on them as soon as we find one small subject of disagreement??? 🤯

Abba, I am asking You to supply me with good friends I can relate to, spend time with and enjoy as You intended. I desire to develop relationships that will be lasting and helpful to both me and my new friends. Abba, I will be sound-minded, self-restrained and alert – above all things, my purpose is to have intense and unfailing love for others, because I know love covers a multitude of sins – love forgives and disregards the offenses of others. I ask You to help me manage my behaviour and attitude so others will want to be around me. My purpose is to bridle my tongue and only speak words of kindness. I will not insist on having my own way, and I will not act unbecomingly. When someone is unkind and falsely accuses me, help me to maintain a cool spirit and to be slow to anger. As they went away, #jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
Matthew 11:7-9

#yeshua asked these rhetorical questions in order to build up the audience's expectations of what he would say about John, but I think his high praise of John must have still been quite a surprise to them. "Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist."

The contrast to what he said immediately afterward would have been even more startling: "Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he."

Not to sidetrack your post, but I read that yesterday and it answered a question I have asked myself before: "does the least in the kingdom mean that the person isn't in the kingdom?" Some teach that it means that they aren't even in the kingdom, but this verse shows that they are as the least are greater than John.

Your posts have taught me to read slower and not "skip words", but actually read. Thanks for that. 😊

On that note, I realized that John's clothes was made of camels hair. It is a rather thick material, so definitely not soft. BUT my thinking is, could this be the same kind of material used when someone put on sackcloth as it is meant not to be comfortable?
