Those who had power over God's people rejected Yeshua (#jesus), but God overruled them and made him to be the cornerstone of the whole Kingdom. Whenever unjust and dishonest people sense that they might be exposed, they accuse others of their own evils, they suppress all dissent, and they continually add to their own lies to protect their power. See the Sadducees in Acts 4 and today's social justice warriors (on both right and left) in every school, Hollywood studio, newsroom, and government office.
It doesn't matter what the world says or does, if God has decreed a thing, then it will be done. No power in heaven or earth can annul God's decrees, whether they concern his rules for life (#torah) or the Ruler of Life (#yeshua).
Obedience to God required Peter and John to disobey the Sanhedrin in Acts 4 for 3 reasons:
1-Torah requires a witness to speak.
2-God made Israel to be a light to the nations.
3-No one in power ever has authority to override God's commands.
In the Bible we read about sheep as a metaphor for people. That’s nice and poetic, but there is a reason God put that metaphor in His book – a reason connected to His land and people of Israel. Samuel and Keila Wearp have learned about that through hands-on experience! These newlyweds had a working honeymoon in Israel, where they led a team of Christian volunteers in an expedition to shear sheep on a farm in the Biblical heartland of Judea. It was the first adventure of their new ministry, Rising Sparks. We learn about it in this four-part conversation, but before we hear about their work in Israel, we get to hear Keila’s story!
Tending sheep, like tending a garden, is an occupation that can teach us about our connection with our Creator. Barry Phillips and David Jones investigate that connection in their midrash, “Adam As A Type of Priest.” Will Spires has been singing about this connection for many years, as we hear in the musical selections for this show.

The Catholic Priest had my dad in purgatory, heaven, the grave, and with the saints all at the same time during his sermon at the funeral. I cleared it up during the eulogy. But Christian folks, please understand dead people are.... dead.

The "captain of the Temple" in Acts 4:1 was probably the commander of the Temple guard on duty at the time.
When the priests and Sadducees heard John and Peter preaching at the Temple, they all came running. Corrupt authorities can't tolerate competition. The Sadducees had two complaints against Peter and John in Acts 4:2:
1) They didn't have approved credentials, which was offensive to the Pharisees.
2) They were teaching resurrection, which was contrary to a core doctrine of the Sadducees.
If Yeshua had really risen, the news would destroy the authority of the Sadducees. I'm not sure they even cared if it was true or not. The threat of The Way to the power base of the Sadducees and Pharisees was so obvious that the Sanhedrin was convened together with the chief priests to discuss it and to question Peter and John.
