New series starting tomorrow! Torah 4 Churchies! A newbie's guide to why so many Christians are now observing Torah as part of their walk with Jesus.
This was inspired by a couple in our Bible Study group over a nickname they gave one of my books. I want to take this series to look at the path I went down when I came to this walk. What Scripture says about this path. And some of the road bumps that I see happening to believers as they start down it.
Authority Relationships in the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 20:25-28)
Yeshua said that he came to serve and not be served. He is the King, which means he's in charge, so what does that really mean? Yeshua serves his bride (the citizens of the Kingdom) by 1) sacrificing his own life for hers, 2) teaching and guiding her, and 3) being her king. This pattern is an example for all leaders to follow. Family, government, military, business, etc. But especially families.
There's a lot of disagreement about what Paul meant by wives submitting to their husbands in Ephesians 5:21-30, but it seems to me that Yeshua's example makes it crystal clear.

I could really use some insight and Biblical advice...
Our homeschooled family participates in a "Christian" homeschool co-op on Mondays. We don't normally leave the house for anything other than church service (before coming to Sabbath observance) on "Halloween". I have gone back and forth about making an exception for co-op, tomorrow, but feel Satan really messing with my family very recently. I was have weird dreams and hearing things throughout the night and then seeing visions all morning. It took me hours to realize that the shadows I kept seeing weren't really there and to process what was causing them. Then, my 8 year old came down borderline in tears because something was inexplicably moving in her room and she thought her brother was messing with her (but he was downstairs at the time).
It was at that time that I explained the very realness of the spirit world and it's connection to this time of year, how people still practice witchcraft and evil things and how those of us who are very strong in our faith are under constant attack. We took time to pray and discuss the situation and how we are protected by Yah and that when we are afraid or uncertain, we need only talk to and trust in Him.
At this point, I am not concerned with the co-op doing anything pertaining to the holiday, as they have made it very clear that it is not allowed there. I am, however, unsure about leaving home and further exposing our family to things outside of our home on this day. My husband is very trusting in whatever decision I make about this but, given how Satan has been attacking me personally, I am questioning my every decision and wondering if he is just trying to scare me into keeping us home. I would really appreciate prayer in Biblical insight.
What was Sarai's status during her stay in Pharaoh's house? Apparently a sort of semi-betrothal.

Yom Tov. I have begun to read some of Charles Finney's writings and although the following is from his exposition on Freemasonry, it is good for all of us today. I will add to it though that we are to try to move forward and learn more even if we are behind others.
God holds the church and every branch of it, responsible for its opinion and action in accordance with the best light, which, in his providence, is afforded them. This, indeed, is law universal, equally applicable to all moral agents, at all times and in all places. But at present I consider its application to the Church of God. If any particular branch of the church has better means of information, and therefore more light on moral questions, than another branch, its responsibility is greater, in proportion to its greater means of information. Such a branch of the church is bound to take a higher and more advanced position in Christian life and duty, to bear a fuller and higher testimony against every form of iniquity, than that required by less favored and less informed branches of the church. They are not to wait till other branches of the church have received their light, before they bear a testimony and pursue a course in accordance with their own degree of information.
