I don't know about the rest of you guys, but we've had rain for weeks around here. Even when it wasn't raining, it was completely overcast and a little cold outside. I love to watch and listen to the rain bringing life into the world, but I've also been feeling like I am more than ready for Springtime to be sprung!
Yesterday was such a perfect day that even being indoors, for any reason, felt like borderline transgression lol! I finally got to go enjoy it at around 4PM, while there were still a few hours of sunlight left. With a breeze blowing gently, my sweatshirt in the sunshine felt like a blanket that had just come out of the dryer. Birds of all kinds were gathered around the feeders in the yard for dinner. Squirrels were all over the small wooded patch in front of me, hiding peanuts and chasing each other up and down trees. I stayed right there on my front porch until 7PM, enjoying every minute of it!
There are no artists, musicians, choreographers, cinematographers, developers, no technology, no amount of money, nor any assembly of these that can match what Jehovah Bore (The Lord Creator) can do with a setting sun, a breeze, a front porch and a few hours of your time. It took me a long time to figure out this one thing, but I got this one thing figured out!! (<
I’m often asked if Christians should celebrate Passover. The short answer is “yes” with this caveat, first understand what you are celebrating and why, worry about the how later. Passover is more than just the celebration of leaving slavery, it is one of the signs that you are choosing to enter into a covenant relationship with the Creator of the universe. That is why Exodus 12; 47—48 is so important. “ All the congregation of Israel shall keep it. And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.” This relationship should not be taken lightly and while I don’t want to appear superficial, the surgical act of circumcision is the first sign of being in a covenant with the Creator for men. To make this commitment was and still is a serious decision. This isn’t a “Jewish” thing, this is respecting the parameters of the covenant relationship that the Creator requires (Before Judah was even born). Everything from circumcision to the blood on the doorpost were outward signs of obedience and a willingness to live the way the Creator designed us to live.
Work of Grace
A friend once showed an artist a costly handkerchief on which a blot of ink had been made. [Nothing can be done with it now, it is absolutely worthless.] The artist made no reply, but carried it away with him. After a time he sent it back, to the great surprise of his friend, who could scarcely recognize it. In a most skilful and artistic way he had made a fine design in India ink, using the blot as a basis, making the handkerchief more valuable than ever.
A blotted life is not necessarily a useless life. Yeshua can make a life beautiful though it has been marred by sin.
Thought for Today: Wednesday April 13:
Worship YHVH only! Whatever occupies your mind the most, becomes your god. Worries, if indulged, develop into idols. Anxiety gains a life of its own, parasitically infesting your mind. Break free from this bondage by affirming your trust in YHVH and refreshing yourself in His Presence. What goes on in your mind is invisible, undetectable to other people. But Elohim read your thoughts continually, searching for evidence of trust in Him. He rejoices when your mind turns towards Him. Guard your thoughts diligently; good thought-choices will keep you close to YHVH.
