Now Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had restored to life, “Arise, and depart with your household, and sojourn wherever you can, for YHWH has called for a famine, and it will come upon the land for seven years.”
2 Kings 8:1
This famine appears to have been very localized to the lands of Israel and Judah. Philistia was very near, but evidently wasn't affected. Seven years indicates that the famine was sent by God in response to Israel's apostasy, and not a mere natural disaster.
