There is a disturbing absence of men in some worship communities. Far too many men have been trained to believe they are too busy for worship or Bible study. They think that if they work harder to provide an easier life for their family, they are fulfilling their obligation. Deuteronomy teaches us a different lesson. “Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and walk along the road. Talk about them when you lie down and when you get up.” Deut. 6; 7 (ICB)
Thought for Today: Wednesday August 10:
Learn to enjoy life more. Relax, remembering that YHVH is with you. He crafted you with enormous capacity to know Him and enjoy His Presence. When His people wear sour faces and walk through their lives with resigned rigidity, He is displeased. When you walk through a day with a childlike delight, savouring every blessing, you proclaim your trust in Him, your ever-Present Shepherd. The more you focus on His Presence with you, the more fully you can enjoy life. Glorify Him through your pleasure in Him. Thus, you proclaim His Presence to the watching world.
