Social and cultural extremes have been compared to a swinging pendulum. When an extreme is reached it swings back the other way, that is not what we read in the Bible. Genesis 18; 20 — 21, “And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.” When the cries of the innocent are heard, our Creator will intervene in a way that He will choose. We may not recognize it because we might be looking for total destruction but our Creator is working to save His people His way. What we might think is the pendulum swinging may very well be the spirit of our Creator.
Shalom! Take a look at our 2 lessons we offer this week for parsha Korach. In lesson 38.1 called "Enough of You!," we will continue on our journey in the wilderness with the children of Yisra’el. Here we will learn about a Qehathite named Qorah and his cohorts of the tribe of Re’uben, who coveted different positions from the ones Yahweh had appointed for their tribes. We will witness their anger against Mosheh and the tragic outcome of their rebellion.
In 38.2 called "Yahweh Chooses His Servants," we will see how Yahweh confirmed His choice of High Priest by causing Aharon’s rod to bud and bear fruit, and so put a stop to the grumbling of the children of Yisra’el. We will also learn about the responsibilities and duties of the priests and the Lewites, and how Yahweh arranged to take care of them through the portions (gifts, contributions, first-fruits and tithes) that Yahweh wanted the children of Yisra’el and the Lewites to present to the priests.
