Regular readers will have noticed that I have not included the crucifixion and resurrection of Yeshua (Jesus) as I was writing about Passover. The early church observed Passover, in the Greek, πάσχα (pascha) Even in Acts 12;4,”And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people” The Greek language had a word for Easter but in all of the known manuscripts the same word πάσχα is used and this is the only place that the same word is translated differently. While many traditions and legends surround this odd occurrence, the most likely reason is that it was culturally acceptable at the time the KJV was being translated. The crucifixion did happen just hours before the celebration of Passover and the resurrection most likely occurring just prior to sunset 3 days and 3 nights later as in Matthew 12;39—40. “Jesus replied, “A wicked and adulterous generation demands a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth”

A thought:

While anti-polygynists claim men being discontented with one woman is the primary root of their sexual sin, it seems to me to be the opposite.

The biblical principle is that any holy daughter of Sarah is worthy of sexual desire, and that the beauty of any woman is a jewel of gold, to be honoured and desired, even if the woman is as a swine.

But when a man is discontented with this, and wants his own way, becoming obsessed with only the one particular woman he wants to have, this is the primary root of his sexual sin that I see.

Amnon was a prince, perhaps already married even, but loved and wanted only one woman - which happened to be his sister. David could not be content with anyone but Bath-sheba, so that he committed adultery to have her, and God rebuked him for not satisfying himself with the women God had and would have given him. Jacob loved Rachel only, and God cursed their marriage for this.

Living in righteousness, a man is abundantly satisfied, his cup overflows. What joy would Jacob have had if he had rejoiced with all four women God had given him as Solomon had with his wives?
It is when a man sets his eye on one woman, and stubbornly will accept no other, that he follows his flesh into sin and strife.

So, would discontent with one man be the primary root of a woman's sexual sin? I think this is not the case so much either. This seems to be what is described in Ezekiel in the adultery of God's two wives, however, it makes a point of the unusual nature of their sin.

I may be wrong, but to me it seems an adulteress is usually drawn to betray her lawful husband by being seduced into a "loyalty" to one other man, or she simply desires to spite her lord.

A fornicatress is, I think, usually more attracted in the feeling of subversion, of using her sexuality for the opposite of its purpose, in lording her manipulation over a peasantry of male clients and feasting on conceit, rather than actually desiring sex itself.

Interesting thoughts, Patrick Lauser. I initially thought in your opening paragraph that you were headed in a different direction: often men don't pursue polygyny due to discontent, but because of contentment. They are well satisfied but enjoy so much the process of leading a family that they want to grow and further exercise those gifts. Indeed, Clyde Pilkington Jr in The Great Omission (good book!) talks of men with a heart of David who are hardwired with the ability and desire to build/manage a larger house. This is Yah's gift that manmade doctrines and traditions vilify by forbidding to marry... . Shalom, achi!

#readmethebiblegarth now includes a new recording of Deuteronomy 1-23 in Hebrew with translation, and in the Lawful Literal Version, here: https://youtube.com/playlist?l....ist=PLvpqSEOjm625MyT

The Hebrew for 2022 recordings demonstrate the Grenache tonal reading method for the Hebrew text which brings out the meaningful divisions of verses, according to semantic meaning of the cantillation marks found in the Masoretic text.

REMEMBER: You Are An Ambassador!

In What Way Might Believers be Called YHVH’s Ambassadors?

Believers Represent the Kingdom of YHVH:
[We are Moshiach’s ambassadors and YHVH is using us to speak to you. We urge you, as though Moshiach Himself were here pleading with you, ‘Be reconciled to YHVH!] -- 2 Corinthians 5:20. An ambassador is an official representative from one country to another. As believers, we are Moshiach’s ambassadors, sent with His Message of reconciliation to the world. An ambassador of reconciliation has an important responsibility. We dare not take this responsibility lightly. How well are you fulfilling your commission as Moshiach’s ambassador?

Believers Represent YHVH
[Then Adonai said to Moses, ‘Pay close attention to this. I will make you seem like YHVH to Pharaoh. Your brother Aaron, will be your prophet; he will speak for you.] -- Exodus 7:1. YHVH called Moses His ambassador. An ambassador represents another country, another type of people and often another point of view. We are each YHVH’s ambassadors; representing to the world that believers are a different kind of people with a different lifestyle. Much of the world knows nothing about YHVH except what it sees in the lives of YHVH’s people. What kind of Elohim would they think you represent? Taking note of how you come across to others gives you a good indication of how well you are representing YHVH. Let Ruach HaKodesh use your actions today to show others the Kingdom of YHVH. Let the Light of Yeshua attract those around you.

Thought for Today: Tuesday April 19 Omer Counting Day 3:

May YHVH Himself surround you with His Tender Mercies and Grace today. May He heal your soul so you can live by faith. Where you once reacted out of insecurities, may you respond in faith knowing you possess all in Moshiach. Where you once struggled with your worries, may you release every care to Him and lift your hands in praise. You are not made for this world. You are only passing through. Live as the divinely loved and called soul you are!
