The year after the seventh #shemitah (i.e. the 50th year) is a Jubilee, beginning on Yom Kippur. Slaves are set free and land inheritances are to be restored to every family. The start of the Jubilee is announced with a loud trumpet. (Remind you of anything?) There is to be no sowing or reaping in 49th and 50th years in Israel. Better plan ahead!

#shavuot (aka Pentecost, the 50th day, the day after the seventh Sabbath after Passover) is like an annual practice run for the Jubilee.

Question… im curious how would you define Honor in biblical terms? What do you feel honoring someone looks like? I feel like honor has taken on some different definitions over time.

Shalom, here is a Hebrew perspective, honour in Hebrew is called Kavod/Kabed which is also the liver. It has to do with thickness /heaviness in Spirit just like those who suffer from stress or depression, they are under a heavy cloud of darkness. So apply this in real life, hope it helps. Shabbat Shalom.

The MacLean motto is virtue mine honor. The favorite saying that I remember Papa saying in correlation with that is "Though I am poor, I am noble." I take those two and feel that honour is the action of respect or the product of earned respect. These two sayings are very old (like, since the 1500's so I would assume that they can corporately share the thought of the word honor recorded in the Scriptures as the English used today for versions of the Bible like the KJV is what was used around the 1500's.

So, I’ve thought of honor as : to be held in high regard. And you honor them in many ways, paying respects, speaking well of them, listening, learning etc. So as a command, to honor your parents would that mean that regardless if they are honorable, that we give them that honor as an action on our part? Or on the reverse when Yahusha states how his mother, brothers, sisters etc are those that do the will of Yah? Mark 1:35 Is it that our mother, brother, sister that are to be honored are those that are honorable because they are doing the will of Yah, not a flesh parent specifically?
