I've searched for a calendar like this for a while. Has anyone else stumbled across this site before? At first glance, it seems like a really nice calendar resource. I'd like to know what everyone's thoughts is. https://torahcalendar.com is the site and the calendar can be found under the "Creation Calendar Resources" tab.
Recently it has been challenged that Moses was talking about Joshua when he states that there will be a prophet like him that will arise from among Israel. There are several reasons why he couldn't have been talking about Joshua.
1) Moses brought a covenant to Israel, Joshua didn't.
2) Moses never brought Israel into the Land, Joshua did.
3) As I point out in the comic, Joshua was Moses' right hand for 40 years. If he was referring to Joshua at this point, he would have just said "Joshua" and moved on. In fact later that day, because Deuteronomy is a speech given by Moses on his last day alive, he calls out Joshua to say Joshua is taking over. (Deut 31 & 34:9)
4) Beside leading Israel and speaking to God for Israel, there aren't really any other similarities between Moses and Joshua.
5) The Jews at the time of Yeshua asked him if he was this Prophet (John 1:21), showing they didn't believe this was Joshua being spoke here.
6) In The Gutnick Chumash, a Torah with commentary from well respected Rabbis such as Rashi and Rambam, it is silent when it gets to this verse on identifying Joshua as the prophet. If this was the commonly accepted answer, wouldn't these Rabbis have stated that and put the matter to rest?
However, much like his life imitating other Messianic type figures in the Bible, we can be confident in knowing that Jesus/Yeshua was the prophet spoken of here by Moses.
1) He is the bringer of another covenant, as the first one has been broken (Jeremiah 31:32)
2) He brought us back to the Father's Ways, just like Moses.
3) He came from among Israel.
4) He is our mediator, just like Moses.

The weekly seventh day #sabbath and the new moon observance will continue in the new earth and new heaven under the direct supervision of Messiah. Their observance is connected to proper worship in this passage. God likes it when his people keep his appointments, so....why don't we?
