1Jn 4:1-3 BSB 1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you will know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and which is already in the world at this time.
Test everything!
1Jn 2:1-7 BSB 1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate before the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He Himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments. 4 If anyone says, “I know Him,” but does not keep His commandments, he is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But if anyone keeps His word, the love of God has been truly perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him: 6 Whoever claims to abide in Him must walk as Jesus walked. 7 Beloved, I am not writing to you a new commandment, but an old one, which you have had from the beginning. This commandment is the message you have heard.
They shall join you and keep guard over the tent of meeting for all the service of the tent, and no outsider shall come near you.
Numbers 18:4
A gentile can be a sojourner in Israel, a citizen in all but inheritance in the land, and eventually be adopted into one of the tribes and inherit land along with the native born. But a gentile convert can never become a Levite, let alone a Levitical priest. God's covenant with Aaron is open only to the physical descendants of Aaron. Anyone trying to usurp that priestly role at the altar or any of the other holy articles of the Tabernacle or Temple was to be killed.
I did light research years ago on america's Independence Day. I never found pagan origins, except that the chinese invented fireworks and still make most of them. So, Happy 4th everyone!
The only other secular holiday I observe is Thanksgiving. The only thing I have more recently found with it is that we keep leftovers for a week and it's not a spontaneous feast. Scripture does allot for thanksgiving feasts though, so if we follow the guidelines by not eating turkey for more than one day, it seems permissible.
Anyone else do research on these?
